Sensitization to Zygophyllum fabago pollen. A clinical and immunologic study.

Zygophyllum fabago is a herbaceous plant found widely in the Mediterranean area. There are no previous reports of its allergenicity. An aerobiologic and clinical survey was conducted in Murcia, southern Spain, to determine the quantity of airborne pollen and establish the possible role of this pollen as a cause of allergic symptoms. With a Hirst volumetric trap, we determined the atmospheric concentrations of this pollen in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996. Of 1180 patients tested, 181 (15.34%) had a positive skin test. To determine its allergenicity, we divided 47 patients into three groups: in gro

Transcriptome Analysis of Zygophyllum xanthoxylum Adaptation Strategies to Phosphate Stress.

Soil phosphate (Pi) deficiency is a global issue and a major constraint on plant growth. Plants typically acclimatize to low Pi by enhancing their P utilization and/or P acquisition efficiencies; however, different species have variable preferred strategies. RNA sequencing analysis was performed on the shoots and roots of Zygophyllum xanthoxylum, under 1 day and 10 days of Pi stress, to investigate their adaptation strategies to P deprivation. A total of 364,614 unigenes and 9,270 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained via transcriptome sequencing. An analysis of the DEGs revealed

Northward shifts and emerging refugia: Future habitat dynamics of Zygophyllum xanthoxylum.

Dryland restoration is increasingly constrained by climate change-driven shifts in the ecological niches of foundation shrubs, yet forecasts often underrepresent geomorphic heterogeneity and model complexity. We assessed future habitat dynamics for Zygophyllum xanthoxylum (Bunge) Maxim., a xerophytic shrub central to desert-steppe restoration in northwestern China, by integrating 114 spatially thinned occurrence records with climate, soil, topographic and geomorphological predictors in an ENMeval-optimized MaxEnt framework. Projections for 2041-2100 under SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5 were e
