This study aims to evaluate the gastroprotective effects of M. elliptica stem on ethanol-induced stomach damage. Thirty rats were randomly divided into five groups. The groups treated with M. elliptica showed reduced stomach injuries, increased mucus production, and higher gastric pH level. In the stomach homogenate, M. elliptica increased levels of PGE2, SOD, and CAT, while reducing MDA. There was also stronger PAS staining, higher HSP70 expression, and lower Bax protein expression. Additionally, M. elliptica reduced TNF-α and IL-6 levels, and increased IL-10. The acute toxicity test revealed no signs of toxicity, indicating the safety of M. elliptica stem treatment.
