Аннотация

Traumatic dislocation of the eye into the cranial cavity is a rare phenomenon described in the literature. Trans-orbital penetrating brain injuries are significant injuries accounting for 0.4% of all head injuries. Agriculture farm-related injuries are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the rural population. Cranio-orbito-facial injuries can occur with farming vehicles, equipment, heavy machinery, and animals. Challenges in managing these trans-orbital penetrating brain injuries include hemorrhagic contusion, loss of vision, meningitis, abscess formation, CSF leak, encephalocele, blepharocele, neurological deficits with severe morbidity, and even mortality. Early and timely management is crucial to prevent these complications. Almost all cases require surgical management by a multidisciplinary approach. We describe a 12-year-old boy who sustained a cranio-orbito-facial injury by tractor harrow with dislocation of the left eye into the anterior cranial fossa. He was successfully managed by a multidisciplinary approach.
