This article discusses various forms of distal metatarsal osteotomy for the treatment of hallux valgus. The techniques for the various osteotomies have evolved over the years to allow the surgeon to match a procedure and its modifications to the individual patient's deformity, thus optimizing outcomes. Fixation techniques continue to evolve, and meticulous surgical technique to prevent complications remains a must.
