Transscleral intraocular lens fixation with preservation of the anterior vitreous face in patients with marfan syndrome and ectopia lentis.
Аннотация
PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transscleral intraocular lens fixation with preservation of the anterior vitreous in the treatment of ectopia lentis in patients with Marfan syndrome.
METHODS
Patients who had undergone surgical intervention for ectopia lentis with or without lenticular opacity were included. Best-corrected visual acuity before and after surgery was compared. Perioperative complications were evaluated.
RESULTS
A total of 23 patients (45 eyes) whose mean age at surgery was 16.9 ± 8.9 years were recruited. The mean follow-up period was 10.1 ± 5.8 months. Mean best-corrected visual acuity change (with respect to preoperative logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution value) was 1.03 ± 0.39. All patients showed >2 lines of improvement in visual acuity. Pupillary capture was found in 6 eyes. Medically controllable intraocular pressure elevation was noted in 12 eyes.
CONCLUSION
Transscleral intraocular lens fixation with preservation of the anterior vitreous face is a safe and effective technique for treatment of ectopia lentis in patients with Marfan syndrome.
