Аннотация
BACKGROUND: The objective of this study is to describe the cases of gonorrhea infection recorded in a center for sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and the factors associated with HIV coinfection.
METHODS: Retrospective, descriptive study of all cases of gonorrhea infection diagnosed in 2005.
RESULTS: Among 134 cases of gonorrhea, 124 occurred in men who have sex with men. The factors associated with HIV coinfection were a prior history of STD and sexual risk practices under the effects of alcohol and/or drugs (OR, 13.4; 95% CI 1.3-139.1; OR, 39.8; 95% CI 1.3-1194.3).
CONCLUSION: An increase in the number of cases of gonorrhea infection is reported, predominantly in the population of men who have sex with men.
