Аннотация
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune-mediated disease affecting persons with a genetic predisposition. Screening for the presence of pancreatic autoantibodies has enabled identification of persons who can benefit from immunomodulatory therapies, with one anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody therapy now in clinical use. Other therapies under investigation include those related to β-cell replacement and regeneration. Diabetes device technology has progressed rapidly, with continuous glucose monitoring and automated insulin delivery via closed-loop systems providing for improved glycemic control and enhanced quality of life.
