Understanding parent motivation for participating in the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine trial.
Аннотация
This study aimed to understand parental motivations and concerns regarding enrollment in the Rutgers SARS-CoV-2 (RSC) pediatric vaccine trial during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the 64 parents who completed the survey, the most commonly reported motivation for enrollment was altruism and contributing to science (93.8%), followed by the potential benefit to the child (90.6%). All participating parents had received the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine themselves. Despite the novelty of the COVID-19 vaccine and widespread misinformation, parents in this study demonstrated a high level of support for the pediatric vaccine trial. The parents' high education level and personal vaccination status may have influenced these findings. Future research should focus on recruiting a more diverse participant pool to enhance the generalizability of results.
