Аннотация
Wandering spleen is a rare entity in childhood. It is caused by abnormal anatomy of the ligaments, which are fixing the spleen in the abdomen. Torsion of the wandering spleen is a possible complication. Surgical treatment should try to preserve splenic tissue, if it is possible. The authors treated 3 children with torsion of the wandering spleen between 2004 and 2020 in two paediatric surgical centers. Initially all 3 patients were diagnosed and treated with constipation due to the abnormally located spleens thought to be scibala. Subsequently ultrasound examination confirmed torsion of the wandering spleen preoperatively. During the surgery, detorquation and fixation of the spleen were performed in all cases. To evaluate the function of the spleens, follow-up investigations were performed. Orv Hetil. 2024; 165(22): 866–871.
