Social determinants of adherence to antiretroviral therapy among adolescents and young people living with HIV: a scoping review.
Аннотация
OBJECTIVE
To map scientific evidence related to social determinants of adherence to antiretroviral therapy among adolescents and young people living with HIV.
METHOD: Scoping review according to JBI methodology, carried out on 20 databases. The inclusion criteria were: adolescents and young people living with HIV (10 and 24 years old), studies related to adherence to antiretroviral therapy (self-reported adherence, viral suppression, pill counts, or pharmacy refill records).
RESULTS
Thirty-nine studies were identified, published between 1999 and 2024, which allowed mapping the determinants that promote and limit adherence to treatment among adolescents and young people living with HIV, being focused on individual characteristics, lifestyle, social and community networks, living and working conditions, socioeconomic, cultural and environmental conditions (Dimensions 1 to 5).
CONCLUSION
The social determinants of adherence interact in a complex way, which affects the context of antiretroviral therapy, both positively and negatively, and are directly interconnected with the living conditions of adolescents and young people living with HIV.
