Аннотация
BACKGROUND: Intracervical lymph node immunotherapy (ICLIT) has demonstrated favorable short-term efficacy and safety in children with allergic rhinitis (AR). However, its efficacy in children with AR complicated by asthma (AR+AA) remain studied.
AIMS/OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the validity of ICLIT in children with AR+AA.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirty children were enrolled, with 15 in AR group and 15 in AR+AA group. All patients received ICLIT. Total nasal symptom score (TNSS), total ocular symptom score (TOSS), and rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (RQLQ) were assessed at baseline and 3, 6 and 12 months post-treatment. The AR+AA group additionally completed the asthma control questionnaire (ACQ-6) and pediatric asthma quality of life questionnaire (PAQLQ). IgE were measured too.
RESULTS: After 12 months of treatment, both groups showed significant improvements from baseline in TNSS, TOSS, and RQLQ (all p < 0.05). However, the magnitude of improvement did not differ significantly between groups (all p > 0.05). In the AR+AA group, ACQ-6 scores decreased from 1.81 ± 1.32 at baseline to 0.51 ± 1.21 (p < 0.001). Serum total IgE and dust mite-specific IgE levels significantly decreased from baseline in both groups (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: ICLIT effectively improves symptoms and quality of life in children with both isolated AR and AR+AA.
