Аннотация
Cleft lip and palate are the most common facial developmental disorders, affecting a significant number of individuals. Their incidence rate stands at 0.5–2 per 1,000 live births. Treating affected children involves a series of intricate surgical procedures spanning several years, necessitating the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team. To deliver effective therapy, specialists must stay abreast of the latest surgical advancements. While the established sequence of surgical and non-surgical treatments is widely accepted, individual judgment always plays a crucial role. Moreover, a comprehensive understanding and practice of proper child feeding significantly contribute to the child’s optimal development. These include breastfeeding guidance, followed by hands-on assistance, closure of the lip and soft palate, subsequent closure of the hard palate, specialized ear, nose, and throat care, speech therapy, and, if necessary, orthodontic treatment. The collaboration and expertise of a multidisciplinary team are vital in providing the best possible care for children with cleft lip and palate. Orv Hetil. 2024; 165(5): 163–170.
