Аннотация

In this article, the authors describe an advocacy model-psychologists advocating for trans health (PATH)-that prepares psychologists and trainees who are interested in developing the awareness, knowledge, skills, and actions needed to counter antitrans legislation and promote affirming legislation and public policy that supports trans and nonbinary (TNB) health and well-being. Written broadly for all psychologists and trainees who want to engage in this work (with specific considerations for the well-being of TNB members of the field), the PATH model uses the four domains (awareness, knowledge, skills, actions) of the multicultural and social justice counseling competencies (Ratts et al., 2016) to frame and synergize the connections between clinical supervision and training (Dollarhide et al., 2021; Mitchell & Butler, 2021), advocacy and public policy approaches (dickey et al., 2017), and mutual aid networks (Spade, 2020). The PATH model provides an advocacy guide for psychologists and trainees who want to not only directly challenge anti-TNB legislation but also reduce the harm of historically embedded, pervasive anti-TNB bias in psychological practice and research.
