Integrating Therapy into Play: Stand-On Ride-On for a Child with Cerebral Palsy.
Аннотация
This study focused on the development of an adaptive ride-on toy for a 2.5-year-old child with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. The primary objective of the device is to amplify motor function, foster autonomy, and elevate the overall quality of life for the child. The Power Mobility Device (PMD) included actuation and steering modifications, a weight support system, and harness mechanisms to cater to the specific needs of the child. The child's spatiotemporal characteristics of physically assisted gait were measured pre/post use of the device. The device was used for 3-months and the results demonstrate a significant improvement in the child's ability to control dynamic balance. The study underscores the importance of integrating assistive technologies seamlessly into the lives of individuals with cerebral palsy and emphasizes the potential long-term impact on their development and well-being.
