Multimodal Treatment Of Hemangiolymphangioma in a Pediatric Patient: Case Report and Literature Review.
Аннотация
BACKGROUND
Hemangiolymphangioma is an uncommon benign lesion characterized by the simultaneous presence of both vascular and lymphatic vessels. It has been rarely reported, and its occurrence in the oral cavity is even rarer compared to other regions, with only 18 cases published in the English-language literature. In addition, there are doubts about the best approach.
CASE REPORT: We describe an additional case of a 7-year-old female patient referred for evaluation of a nodular lesion on the dorsum of the tongue, which had been present since birth. Initially, clinical follow-up was chosen; however, due to aesthetic concerns, it was decided to remove the lesion when the patient was 14 years old. The treatment combined sclerotherapy with ethanolamine oleate and surgical removal with electrocautery, aiming to preserve adjacent structures and minimize the risk of hemorrhage.
CONCLUSION
The patient was satisfied with the results, and she is in follow-up for 3 years after treatment, with no evidence of recurrence. We conclude that the combination of sclerotherapy and surgery can be an effective option for the treatment of hemangiolymphangiomas, providing satisfactory clinical outcomes.
