Glomerular disease (GD) is common in Vietnam. In the absence of suitable pathology laboratories, well-trained renal pathologists and etiologic laboratory tests, the diagnosis of GD mainly relies on the recognition of clinical syndromes. Support from the International Society of Nephrology has been crucial for the clinical and pathologic diagnosis of GD in Vietnam. The high cost of new immunosuppressant agents has precluded their widespread adoption and low-cost steroids remain the main immunosuppressants prescribed for GD in Vietnam.

One challenge in atopic dermatitis is facial eczema, which requires delicate management because of the sensitive nature of facial skin. This report presents a 30-year-old male patient with facial eczema associated with atopic dermatitis, which could not be cured by conventional treatment, even with the continuation of oral betamethasone. The facial lesions were treated with pediatric 0.03% tacrolimus ointment. The patient was administered 200 mg/day tranilast and 300 mg/day roxithromycin. Within 3 weeks, his eczematous lesions on the face, as well as the severe itching, were completely cured.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Patients with severe bile salt export pump (BSEP) deficiency may develop alloimmune anti-BSEP liver disease (AIBD) after liver transplantation (LT) as a result of anti-BSEP antibodies, but its frequency and risk factors are not precisely known.

Immunosuppressants can be used to treat chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. However, real-world retrospective studies on practical regimens and health outcomes remain limited. To identify challenges associated with systemic treatment of cGVHD, we analyzed anonymized Japanese medical insurance claims data. INTRODUCTION: The ongoing US measles outbreak raises concerns for immunosuppressed children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
METHODS: We evaluated measles seroprotection in pediatric patients with IBD using a high-sensitivity ELISA (Zeus) compared with a standard commercial assay.
RESULTS: Among 176 patients, 173 (98%) were seropositive despite 87% being on immunosuppressive therapy. In comparison, only 163 (93%) were seropositive by commercial assay, resulting in a negative predictive value of 23%.
