Excessive Feed Sorting Is Associated With Altered Plasma Metabolism and Distinct Fermentation Responses of Pooled Rumen Microbiota in Dairy Cows.

Feed sorting behaviour in dairy cows alters dietary structure and has been associated with rumen dysfunction, but its systemic metabolic consequences and microbial acidogenic potential remain unclear. This study combined in vivo and in vitro approaches to investigate associations between feed sorting behaviour, host metabolism, and rumen microbial fermentation. Twenty-four mid-lactation Holstein cows were monitored for 28 days, from which 12 cows representing extreme feed-sorting phenotypes were selected: severe sorters for fine particles (SES; n = 6) and slight sorters (SLS; n = 6). Blood sam

The Effect of the Lingzhi or Reishi Medicinal Mushroom Ganoderma lucidum (Agaricomycetes) Administration on the Functional State of Erythrocytes in Rats with Experimental Metabolic Syndrome.

The research examined how the extract of Ganoderma lucidum mushroom mycelium affects the functional state of erythrocytes in rats with fructose-induced metabolic syndrome (MetS). MetS was induced by a high-carbohydrate diet: for 42 d, the animals consumed a 10% fructose solution instead of drinking water. Following the induction of MetS, the rats were treated with G. lucidum mycelium extract for 14 d at a dose of 1 g/kg of body weight. It was found that administration of the extract to animals with MetS resulted in a gradual reduction in body weight and a 13.2% decrease in blood plasma glucose

FTO promotes human NK cell proliferation yet restricts effector functions.

Human embryonic stem cell (hESC)- or induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived natural killer (NK) cells serve as promising adoptive cell therapies for cancer patients and as valuable models for studying the regulation of human NK cell development and effector functions. In this study, we used shRNA to knock down the expression of FTO in hESCs and differentiated these cells into NK cells to explore the role of FTO in regulating human NK cell development and effector functions. Our data revealed that the FTO knockdown in hESCs resulted in a comparable effect on haematopoietic progenitor cell

Modified Glissonean pedicle transection vs. hilar dissection in laparoscopic left hemihepatectomy for hepatolithiasis: a propensity score analysis (with video).

BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic anatomical liver resection for hepatolithiasis is frequently complicated by dense hilar adhesions. Traditional hilar dissection (LHDA) is associated with biliary and vascular injury, whereas the standard Glissonean approach can be compromised by stapler failure when impacted stones are present. This study assessed the safety and efficacy of a two-step laparoscopic modified Glissonean approach (LMGA) for left-sided hepatolithiasis. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study evaluated 215 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic anatomical left hemihepatectomy for

Increased METTL1 expression in B cell subsets correlates with disease activity and immunological features in SLE.

OBJECTIVE: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease characterized by aberrant B cell activation, excessive plasma cell differentiation, and pathogenic autoantibody production. Epitranscriptomic modifications have emerged as important regulators of immune cell function. Among these, N7-methylguanosine (m7G) modification, catalyzed by methyltransferase-like 1 (METTL1), has been implicated in immune regulation and autoimmune diseases. However, the expression pattern of METTL1 across peripheral B cell subsets and its clinical relevance in SLE remain incompletely character
