[PLASMACYTOID UROTHELIAL CARCINOMA OF THE BLADDER WITH MASSIVE ASCITES: A CASE DEMONSTRATING SIGNIFICANT RESPONSE TO GEMCITABINE-CISPLATIN THERAPY].

We report a case of plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma (PUC) of the bladder associated with massive ascites that showed a notable and temporary response to gemcitabine and cisplatin (GC) chemotherapy. A 69-year-old male underwent initial transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) in August 202X-5. By December 202X-3, he had received four TURBT procedures and two courses of intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin therapy. Histopathological examinations consistently revealed non-muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma (pT1), and imaging studies showed no evidence of distant metastasis. Howev

Behind the Smoke: A Bladder Cancer Case Report Through the Eyes of Primary Care.

Bladder carcinoma represents a common neoplasm in men, typically presenting with hematuria or as an incidental finding. Smoking and occupational exposure are its main risk factors. Currently, no screening method is available for its detection. We present the case of a 69-year-old retired man (former car mechanic), with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes mellitus, who attended a routine appointment at his primary healthcare center, with no complaints. In addition to standard tests, an abdominal ultrasound was requested to screen for abdominal aneurysm, in accordance wi

Bladder endometriosis mimicking bladder neoplasm: A case report.

Endometriosis has traditionally been considered a gynecological condition. However, it is increasingly recognized as a multiorgan and systemic inflammatory disease that requires interdisciplinary care, spearheaded by a gynecologist with specialized training in clinical and surgical management. Bladder endometriosis is an extremely uncommon but dangerous type of infiltrating endometriosis, for which only pathological examination can establish a diagnosis. This case report describes a rare presentation of endometriosis mimicking a bladder neoplasm in a 44-year-old woman, emphasizing the importan

A Case Report and Literature Review on a Primary Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma of the Gallbladder.

Primary dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) of the gallbladder is an exceptionally rare neoplasm. We present a case of incidentally discovered gallbladder DDLPS identified during routine surveillance abdominal computed tomography (CT) in a patient with a history of low-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma of the bladder. The mass was initially suspected to be primary gallbladder carcinoma, prompting cholecystectomy. Histopathologic examination revealed a high-grade sarcomatous nodule within the gallbladder adventitia, sharply demarcated from an adjacent well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS)

Accurate bladder cancer diagnosis using ensemble deep leaning.

There are an estimated 1.3 million cases of cancer globally each year, making it one of the most serious types of urinary tract cancer. The methods used today for diagnosing and monitoring bladder cancer are intrusive, costly, and time-consuming. In clinical practice, invasive biopsy followed by histological examination continues to be the gold standard for diagnosis. Bladder cancer biomarkers have been used in expensive diagnostic tests created recently, however their reliability is limited by their high rates of false positives and false negatives. The potential and use of artificial intelli

68Ga-FAPI and 18F-FAPI PET/CT for detection of nodal metastases prior radical cystectomy in high-risk urothelial carcinoma patients.

INTRODUCTION: To determine the best therapeutic strategy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (BC), the accuracy of lymph node staging is of paramount importance. However, diagnostic performance of conventional computed tomography in BC prior to radical cystectomy (RC) remains unsatisfactory. There is an increased interest in evaluating 18F-FAPI PET/CT for hybrid imaging due to their logistical advantages compared to [68Ga]Ga-based FAPI tracers in clinical routine. Recently, the potential diagnostic value of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI- 46 PET/CT was demonstrated in BC. Thus, we aimed to examine the diagnosti

Light Bladder Net: Non-invasive Bladder Cancer Prediction by Weighted Deep Learning Approaches and Graphical Data Transformation.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Bladder cancer (BCa) is associated with high recurrence rates, emphasizing the importance of early and accurate detection. This study aimed to develop a lightweight and fast deep learning model, Light-Bladder-Net (LBN), for non-invasive BCa detection using conventional urine data. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We improved LBN's generalization by applying data transformations, adding uniform noise, and employing feature selection methods (mRMR, PCA, SVD, t-SNE) to extract key vectors from its fully connected layer. These vectors were integrated into the original dataset, and multiple

The Dublin International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Consensus Conference on Best Practice Recommendations on the Pathology of Urachal Neoplasms.

This manuscript summarizes the first part of the proceedings of the 2023 Dublin ISUP Consensus Conference encompassing the best practice recommendations on the pathology of neoplasms of urachal origin. The rationale for convening this consensus conference was the lack of structured and consented histopathologic recommendations in these rare tumors. Consensus among the meeting participants (n=80) was reached on the following statements: (1) combination of gross, histologic, clinical and imaging findings with exclusion of secondary tumor metastasis are to be used in the diagnosis of urachal carc

Computational Morphological Assessment of Bladder Cancer Tissue Is Prognostic of Recurrence and Overall Survival Following Transurethral Resection.

PURPOSE: Current risk assessment tools for bladder cancer following transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) depend on pathological examination of resected tissue, with the consequent intra- and inter-reviewer variability. Improved prognostic tools could enable increased monitoring and aggressive interventions for high-risk patients while reducing the frequency of invasive testing for low-risk patients. METHODS: We present an automated tumor risk assessment method based on quantitative features of nuclear pleomorphism and polarity extracted from digitized hematoxylin and eosin sli
