The way the dynamics of DNA fragmentation affects the growth of embryos in real time, and effectiveness of infertility treatment using the ICSI procedure were determined in 148 couples treated with the ICSI technique. The percentage of sperm with fragmented DNA (known as the DNA fragmentation index [DFI]) in semen samples was determined at 3, 6 and 12 h. BACKGROUND: Congenital malformations occur in 3-4% of live births. Their prenatal detection is performed by ultrasound screening. Any announcement about a suspected malformation is a source of stress for the parents, and misdiagnosis during ultrasound screening can lead to expensive and sometimes iatrogenic medical interventions. INTRODUCTION: A standard assessment of embryo morphology at given time points does not always allow to transfer the embryo with the highest implantation potential. The effect of transfer of an improper embryo results in a lack of pregnancy or a miscarriage and, as a consequence, exposes the patient to unnecessary emotional stress and necessity to perform yet another transfer of frozen embryos. We present a case of a patient with earlier IVF failures. The use of time-lapse technique in this case helped to choose two good embryos. The transfer resulted in ongoing twin pregnancy.

BACKGROUND: Pentalogy of Cantrell is a rare malformation syndrome consisting of a specific combination of ventral midline defects, uncommonly found to be associated with other anomalies.
CASE: We report a case of complete Pentalogy of Cantrell with craniorachischisis diagnosed in-utero at 19 weeks of gestation through antenatal ultrasonography. Fetal autopsy following termination of the pregnancy confirmed the presence of the sonographically detected malformations and also revealed associated transposition of great vessels (TGV) in the fetus.
