Exploration of barriers and facilitators to physical activity in adults with schizophrenia involved in a long-term psychosocial rehabilitation programme: a mixed method study.

OBJECTIVE: Regular physical activity benefits cardiometabolic health, fitness, neurocognition and quality of life in people with schizophrenia (pwSCZ). However, pwSCZ exhibit high levels of physical inactivity and poor adherence to exercise programs. This study investigated physical activity facilitators and barriers in stable pwSCZ in long-term psychosocial rehabilitation. METHODS: Forty-three pwSCZ (age = 29 (12) years; n = 12 female) of a French rehabilitation centre underwent semi-structured interviews and rated pre-identified physical activity barriers and facilitators on a 5-point scale

Video Remote Sign Language Interpreting and Health Communication for Deaf Patients: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

IMPORTANCE: Current interpretation services for Deaf patients who use sign language are often ineffective or unacceptable. In-person interpretation is frequently unavailable, and while video remote interpreting (VRI) remains underused, its scalability may be a solution given interpreter shortages and cost barriers. Existing research focuses on user and interpreter preferences, leaving a critical gap in understanding how interpretation formats affect communication quality. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of VRI in improving communication outcomes between Deaf patients and physicians c

Exploring the alignment between occupational therapy using Ayres Sensory Integration® with children and occupation-centred practice: An observational study.

INTRODUCTION: There is a longstanding debate about using Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) as an occupational therapy approach, fuelled partly by queries about its alignment with the current occupation-centred paradigm. Despite many voicing their opinions, no studies have considered the extent to which occupational therapy using ASI with children might be implemented in a way that aligns with occupation-centred practice. This study was designed to explore that alignment. METHODS: This mixed-methods study involved eight occupational therapists certified to implement ASI. Data collection involve

Caregivers' Perceptions of the Impact of Palliative Care: A Qualitative Study.

INTRODUCTION: Population aging and the rising prevalence of multimorbidity have contributed to increased levels of dependency, placing informal caregivers at the forefront of home-based care delivery. Although palliative care (PC) aims to support both patients and their families, evidence regarding caregivers' own perceptions and experiences of this role remains limited. Furthermore, the extent to which community PC teams shape caregivers' lived experience is still insufficiently understood. METHODS: This qualitative phenomenological study involved conducting four semi-structured interviews w

BACKGROUND: Rare diseases affect more than 300 million people globally, and only about 5% have approved therapies. Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) exemplify the diagnostic and long-term care complexity typical of rare diseases, and digital health technologies (DHTs), especially artificial intelligence (AI) and connected care (CC), are emerging tools to support LSD management. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to map and synthesize peer-reviewed and gray literature from the past decade on DHTs relevant for LSD care, with a primary analytic focus on AI-enabled and CC solutions and a contextual mapping of

Patient satisfaction with advanced practice physiotherapy internationally: A systematic mixed studies review.

INTRODUCTION: Advanced practice physiotherapy (APP) is internationally recognised as a higher level of practice involving expert clinical and analytical skills to manage complex patient needs. Patient satisfaction measures how pleased someone is with their care, comprises human and system attributes, and is an indicator of patient experience (quality). Patient satisfaction with APP appears high, but no comprehensive evidence synthesis across settings exists. Objectives were to evaluate patient satisfaction with APP internationally, and evaluate human and system attributes of patient satisfacti
