All-cause mortality risk associated with leisure activities in China: A cohort study.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate potential associations between leisure activities and all-cause mortality among the elderly population in China. METHODS: We used data from six pooled waves from 1998 to 2018 consisting of 44620 individuals from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). Cox non-proportional hazards models were employed to estimate the correlations between leisure activities and all-cause mortality while adjusting for a time-varying coefficient, sociodemographic, self-reported medical history, and other pertinent confounders. Additionally, a supplemen

Five-Year Absolute Risk-Based and Age-Based Breast Cancer Screening in the US.

IMPORTANCE: General mammography screening guidelines target women at average risk within a specified age range (age based) and do not consider absolute risk of individual women at a given age (risk based). OBJECTIVE: To compare outcomes of mammography screening strategies that vary by 5-year risk of invasive breast cancer vs age-based strategies. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This decision analytical model used 2 established Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) breast cancer models and simulated US women born in 1980 who were aged 40 years or older without a pr

Contemporary Outcomes of Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair in Patients with Syndromic Genetic Aortopathy: A Multi-Centre National Study.

BACKGROUND: Thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissection in individuals with syndromic genetic aortopathy (SGA) due to Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome are especially challenging. This is due to the impaired aortic architecture secondary to the genetic variants. Previous studies have analyzed the outcomes after open surgery in this population. However, there is little information on their outcomes after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). Recent studies have demonstrated high rates of subsequent secondary interventions in these patients treated wi

Impact of Population Cancer Risk on the Cost-effectiveness of Multicancer Early Detection Testing in the United States.

BACKGROUND: Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, particularly for subpopulations with risk factors including genetic predisposition, comorbidities, and lifestyle, along with age. The Galleri multicancer early detection (MCED) test is projected to be cost-effective for individuals ≥50 years of age. However, its potential value in subpopulations with elevated cancer risk remains underexplored. This study evaluates the cost-effectiveness (CE) of the Galleri test combined with usual care screening in subpopulations with varying cancer risk, including impact on overall cancer burde

In Hospital Outcome of Primary PCI With Door to Balloon Time Less or More Than 60 Min: A Prospective Observational Study.

INTRODUCTION: Timely primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is crucial for optimal outcomes in STEMI patients, with guidelines recommending door-to-balloon time (DTB) of less than 90 min. Reducing DTB times may improve clinical outcomes, but the necessity of further reductions is debated. OBJECTIVE: Our study investigates the in-hospital outcomes of Acute STEMI patients with DTB of less than 60 min versus 60 or more minutes, aiming to determine whether further reducing DTB times is necessary. METHODS: A single-center prospective observational study was conducted from March 1 to Sep
