Cross-cultural adaptation and comparative psychometric evaluation of four patient-reported outcome measures for breast cancer-related lymphedema: measurement properties and clinical discrimination.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) can substantially impair health-related quality of life. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) may complement objective limb measurements by capturing symptoms, functional limitations, and psychosocial consequences; however, comparative evidence on BCRL-specific PROMs and validated Chinese versions remains limited. This study aimed to cross-culturally adapt four BCRL-specific PROMs and compare their classical and Rasch measurement properties, known-groups validity, and exploratory discrimination relative to a circumference-based reference

Latissimus dorsi muscle transfer for reconstruction of traumatic deltoid deficiency: a report of two cases.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Traumatic deltoid muscle deficiency results in significant impairment of shoulder function despite preserved distal upper-limb mobility. The pedicled latissimus dorsi muscle transfer (LDT) is a promising reconstructive option; however, its application in traumatic deltoid loss remains underreported, particularly in resource-limited and conflict-affected settings. CASE PRESENTATION: We report two cases of traumatic deltoid deficiency managed with pedicled LDT. Case 1 involved a 23-year-old male with deltoid and supraspinatus avulsion following a projectile injury.

Effort-Related Upper Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis: A Case Series of Three Patients With Paget-Schröetter Syndrome Managed in Acute Care Settings.

Paget-Schröetter syndrome (PSS), also known as effort thrombosis, is a rare form of primary upper extremity deep vein thrombosis (UEDVT) caused by repetitive upper limb activity and/or venous thoracic outlet compression. Delayed recognition may result in pulmonary embolism, post-thrombotic syndrome, and chronic venous obstruction. We present three cases of effort-related UEDVT diagnosed in acute care settings with varying clinical presentations and management strategies. The first case involved a 78-year-old man who developed acute left upper limb swelling following prolonged gardening activit

Game-oriented interventions for children with cerebral palsy: a review of efficacy, engagement, and functional outcomes.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most prevalent cause of childhood physical disability worldwide, affecting approximately 1.6 per 1,000 live births and imposing permanent deficits across motor, cognitive, and psychosocial domains. Conventional rehabilitation is frequently constrained by poor engagement and inadequate practice intensity in pediatric populations. Game-based interventions - encompassing virtual reality (VR), exergaming platforms, serious games, augmented reality, and telerehabilitation systems - address this challenge by embedding intensive therapeutic motor p

Association of Early Stepwise Rehabilitation Nursing with Wrist Function and Pain Outcomes After Wrist Arthroscopy: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Wrist arthroscopy is widely used as a minimally invasive treatment for wrist disorders. Postoperative rehabilitation is an important component of functional recovery. Conventional rehabilitation often follows a relatively uniform schedule and relies primarily on pharmacological pain management; consequently, stage-specific and individual needs may not be fully addressed. This single-center retrospective cohort analysis compared observed postoperative outcomes between patients receiving early stepwise rehabilitation care and those receiving the traditional rehabilitation model. The intervention

Constraint-induced movement therapy after ischemic stroke: From cortical reorganization to molecular plasticity.

Stroke recovery is a dynamic, multilevel process involving structural, functional, and molecular reorganization of surviving neural circuits. Constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) has emerged as one of the most effective rehabilitation strategies for improving upper-limb motor function after stroke by overcoming learned nonuse and promoting activity-dependent plasticity. This review integrates clinical and experimental evidence to provide a comprehensive mechanistic framework of CIMT-induced recovery. At the systems level, motor recovery is governed by peri-infarct plasticity, diaschisis
