Minimal invasive pocket technique for magnet bone implant hearing aid without fixation.

INTRODUCTION: The BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid) Attract is a magnetic transcutaneous bone conduction device anchored into the temporal bone. The standard surgical technique for BAHA Attract is a multi-tools time-consuming process, which requires a large cutaneous incision. The objective of this study is to describe and test the feasibility of a minimally invasive pocket (MIP) technique for Magnet Bone Implant Hearing Aid (MBIHA) with a modified magnet of BAHA Attract without fixation and without any tissue reduction. We use a 3-cm vertical skin incision and a subperiosteal pocket. METHOD:

Influence of maximum power output on speech understanding with bone anchored hearing systems.

Background: Maximum power output (MPO) levels of bone anchored hearing systems (BAHS) vary between different devices, but are significantly lower than those of conventional hearing aids, potentially limiting speech understanding.Aims/objectives: To investigate, how MPO influences speech understanding in quiet and in noise in BAHS users.Materials and methods: 12 adult BAHS users with a bilateral conductive hearing loss and additional sensorineural hearing components between 4 and 45 dB (500-4000 Hz) participated in the study. Speech understanding was measured at 65 dB in quiet and in noise with

The Bonebridge implant in older children and adolescents with mixed or conductive hearing loss: Audiological outcomes.

INTRODUCTION: For children with conductive or mixed hearing loss, in whom use of conventional hearing aids is impossible or limited, use of bone conduction devices is recommended. The choice between the available types of devices depends mostly on the degree of hearing loss, age, and anatomical conditions. One device application in children older than 5 years is the Bonebridge implant. The aim of this study is to assess the benefits and safety of this device in children. METHODS: The material was a group of 11 older children and adolescents aged 10-17 years (mean = 14.7, SD = 2.45) with singl
