OBJECTIVES: The mechanism of pain sensation in patients with ulcer-like functional dyspepsia is unclear and there are no guidelines for its treatment. Whilst much research and many pharmacological treatments have provided symptomatic relief of ulcer-like functional dyspepsia through control of acid secretion, the role of acid in ulcer-like functional dyspepsia is unknown. We carried out this study to investigate the role of hypersensitivity to acid in the sensation of pain in ulcer-like functional dyspepsia by direct administration of acid into stomach.

AIM: To study the clinical pathology of chronic erosive gastritis (CEG) and determine the expression of epithelial tumor markers, oncoprotein p21 and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and G cells by immunohistochemistry.
METHODS: Gastric mucosal biopsies from 40 CEG cases were examined. Histopathology and Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection were determined by light microscopy. Thirty-one biopsies from CEG cases were immunostained with antibodies against p21, CEA, proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), and gastrin using the labeled streptavidin-biotin (LSAB) method.

AIM: To investigate AgNOR and rasp21 expression levels in gastric mucosal lesions caused by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in order to gain insight into the related biological processes (i.e. tumor-like behavior) and possible underlying mechanism supporting Hp pathogenesis.
METHODS: Hp infection was diagnosed in using the standard Campylobacter-like organism test along with Wathin-Starry staining. The expression of AgNOR was detected by the silver colloid staining technique. The expression of rasp21 was detected by monoclonal antibody and immunohistochemical staining using the ABC method.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: This study was performed to determine the gastrointestinal symptoms, and endoscopic and histopathological findings in patients on maintenance haemodialysis.

The patients with chronic superficial gastritis were perfused in the stomach with 20 g of Dendrobium nobile to observe the variations in gastric acidity output, serum gastrin and plasma somatostatin concentration. The objective of this study was to look at non-neoplastic, precancerous histologic changes in the antrum of 49 resected stomachs with intestinal-type adenocarcinoma. Damage of the gastric mucosal barrier by Helicobacter pylori (Hp) has been investigated with estimation of antral mucosal hexosamine and phospholipid, and the degree of pathologic changes to be also evoluted in 100 cases of chronic superficial gastritis.
