INTRODUCTION: TikTok, a social media platform, is a tool for disseminating dermatological public health education. On TikTok, like other social media platforms, both board-certified dermatologists and non-medical providers ("influencers") provide dermatological advice, but how the quality of the advice compares between the two creator groups is unclear.
OBJECTIVES: This study sought to assess similarities and differences in the language used within content, user receptibility, and engagement and the utility of online education in understanding hair and scalp disorders.
METHODS: A cross-secti

BACKGROUND: Hair type classification is crucial for developing personalized hair care, maximizing hair health, and selecting appropriate treatment for scalp disorders, yet it remains underutilized in clinical practice.
AIMS: This review aimed to address three main questions: (1) How can hair types be defined according to specific shape criteria, without referring to race/ethnicity? (2) Why does certain hair exhibit a curly pattern, and how does curly hair behave uniquely? (3) How is the classification of curly hair clinically relevant to the development of seborrheic dermatitis?

Sebaceous glands (SGs) contribute to skin physiology by producing sebum, which forms a lipid barrier preventing dehydration. Various skin conditions, including acne vulgaris and seborrheic dermatitis, are linked to their dysfunction. Several questions remain concerning the formation and regulation of these glands because there are few human tridimensional models available to address them. In this study, we investigated the conditions that allow SG formation in human tissue-engineered skin substitutes. We tested whether the source of epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and the extracellular environm

BACKGROUND: Alopecia areata and seborrheic dermatitis are inflammatory skin disorders that can be chronic and are often influenced by immune dysregulation, micronutrient deficiencies, and an imbalanced gut-skin axis. Conventional therapies offer symptomatic relief but fail to address root causes, leading to frequent relapse. Emerging evidence supports the use of functional nutrition and integrative strategies to modulate immune responses and restore skin and hair health.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 21-year-old male with a known diagnosis of alopecia areata since 2021 presented with patchy hair loss

Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common, chronic inflammatory skin disorder that can be challenging to manage when refractory to conventional topical therapies. This case report describes the use of a 532-nm Potassium Titanyl Phosphate (KTP) Q-switched laser in a patient with refractory SD. A 25-year-old male patient presented with persistent erythematous, scaly, and pruritic facial lesions. Clinical evaluation included histopathological confirmation and Seborrheic Dermatitis Area and Severity Index (SEDASI) scoring, with an initial score of 46 points. The patient underwent four sessions of 532

INTRODUCTION: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common chronic inflammatory dermatosis associated with substantial symptom burden and impaired quality of life. Despite increasing interest in development of advanced therapies for SD, standardization of outcome measures appears limited. We sought to understand how disease severity, symptoms, and quality of life are measured in seborrheic dermatitis clinical studies.
METHODS: We conducted a systematic review of clinical studies (both interventional and observational) assessing SD severity and treatment response. Eligible studies were identified th

To establish consensus-driven practical recommendations for the clinical management of Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD), covering both acute treatment and long-term maintenance strategies. We conducted a modified Delphi consensus involving 33 dermatology experts under the auspices of the EADV. The process utilized an efficient, two-round, blinded voting structure to iteratively refine an initial list of 84 evidence-based statements, facilitating a structured convergence of expert opinion. The iterative Delphi process proved effective in building consensus. After the second round of voting on a refin

T cell immunosenescence refers to the progressive functional decline of T lymphocytes with aging, characterized by the phenotypic markers, mitochondrial dysfunction, and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), representing a pivotal aspect of overall immune aging. This review systematically elucidates the critical role of T cell immunosenescence in the pathogenesis of common inflammatory skin diseases, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis. Senescent T cells drive the production of a disease-specific SASP via internally dysregulated signaling

BACKGROUND: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare inflammatory myeloid neoplasm characterized by abnormal myeloid differentiation and activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway. Since atypical dermatological or gastrointestinal manifestations in early childhood can lead to diagnostic delays, timely recognition of this potentially multisystemic disease is critical for a favorable prognosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 22-month-old male patient presented to the pediatric gastroenterology outpatient clinic with complaints of bloody-mucoid diarrhea for three months, signif

OBJECTIVE: Maternal diabetes is a known driver of fetal metabolic programming, yet its impact on offspring cutaneous health remains poorly characterized. We investigated the impact of intrauterine exposure to various maternal diabetes subtypes on the risk of offspring seborrheic dermatitis (SD), and to explore whether this risk is modulated by maternal glycemic control or treatment modality.
METHODS: This large-scale, population-based cohort study included 331,335 mother-child pairs. Maternal diabetes subtypes-type 1 (T1DM), type 2 (T2DM), and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)-were assessed

INTRODUCTION: Erythemato-squamous disease (ESD) is a skin disorder characterized by both erythema and squamous changes. These conditions often involve inflammation and can manifest with various symptoms, such as itching, burning, and discomfort. However, distinguishing between different conditions solely based on external symptoms may be challenging and lead to misdiagnosis.
AIM: To overcome these issues, this work proposes a novel deep learning-based Hexa-ESD framework to efficiently classify clinical skin images into hexa skin diseases.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory dermatosis that is characterized by pruritus, xerosis, and age-dependent clinical heterogeneity. Accurately diagnosing AD remains challenging due to the absence of specific biomarkers and the broad spectrum of conditions that may mimic its presentation. A wide range of inflammatory, infectious, and genetic disorders resemble AD, including seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, scabies, dermatophytosis, and nummular eczema, as well as rare immunodeficiency and metabolic conditions. This review summarizes the

Chronic ear pruritus, itching of the ear that lasts longer than six weeks, is a common symptom with a wide differential diagnosis that can significantly impair the quality of life. It can arise from such primary dermatologic conditions as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and lupus erythematosus, as well as such infestations as scabies and pediculosis capitis. Otolaryngologic causes-for example, otomycosis, chronic otitis externa, and temporomandibular joint disorders-may also lead to chronic ear pruritus. Systemic diseases, such as diabetes, hematologic
