Case Report: Successful treatment of pediatric patients with acute generalized pustular psoriasis with secukinumab.

Acute generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare, distinct subtype of psoriasis characterized clinically by sterile pustules arising on an erythematous base. Pediatric GPP is associated with severe manifestations, high healthcare expenditures, and a great risk of mortality, severely affecting the quality of life of both children and their families. Secukinumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that selectively targets IL-17A-a pivotal cytokine in psoriasis pathogenesis that promotes keratinocyte proliferation and inflammatory responses-has been approved for the treatment of moderate-to-se

Japanese intractable and rare dermatologic diseases: From the official skin-centered nanbyo core to an illustrative mechanism-based framework.

Japan's designated intractable disease (nanbyo) framework combines a population threshold with unresolved pathogenesis or treatment, long-term care needs, objective diagnostic criteria, and severity-linked assistance with medical expenses. We conducted a targeted narrative review of official Japanese sources and biomedical literature through August 3, 2026. Evidence ranged from regulatory approvals and randomized trials to observational, case-report, and preclinical data, so therapeutic maturity was assessed separately from mechanistic plausibility. We distinguished the 12 official skin/connec

Clinical practice guideline for psoriasis management in Latin America.

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis care in Latin America is heterogeneous, and access to systemic agents, biologics, phototherapy, and monitoring resources varies widely across countries. OBJECTIVE: To develop a regional, evidence-based clinical practice guideline for psoriasis management using GRADE methodology. METHODS: The Latin American Psoriasis Society (SOLAPSO) convened a guideline development group, an extended expert panel, patients, and an independent methodological team. We framed clinical questions using PICO, conducted systematic literature reviews, rated certainty of evidence with GRADE, an

The Uncommon Coexistence of Mid-Borderline Leprosy and Generalized Pustular Psoriasis.

Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae that primarily affects the skin and peripheral nerves, whereas generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and severe form of psoriasis characterized by widespread sterile pustules and systemic symptoms. Their coexistence is extremely rare due to distinct genetic, immunologic, and epidemiologic profiles. We report a case of a 28-year-old female presenting with both mid-borderline (BB) leprosy and severe GPP. She initially developed numb, erythematous patches on her extremities, followed by pustular eruptions on her ri

Toward trustworthy water quality monitoring under sensor unreliability.

BACKGROUND: The influence of pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational weight gain (GWG) on perinatal outcomes of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) remains unclear. Therefore, we explored how the above indicators influence pregnancy outcomes in women with PCOS. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted involving the baseline characteristics, laboratory data, and pregnancy outcomes of 722 pregnant women with PCOS. Subjects were grouped in a way to find out risks in their pregnancy outcomes. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate how BMI a

Classification and recommendations of the Mexican Group for the study of Psoriasis and Other Immune-Mediated Diseases (PSOMEX) for the diagnosis and treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis.

Generalized pustular psoriasis is a rare, clinically heterogeneous autoinflammatory disease associated with significant morbidity and mortality. There are still many questions and unmet needs regarding basic concepts of the disease, although advances in the knowledge of its pathophysiological and genetic bases are leading to a change in it's concept, classification and treatment. Likewise, these advances have allowed the development of effective treatments with good therapeutic responses. After an exhaustive review of the literature, and based on the clinical experience of the authors, the Mex

Acute Generalized Exanthematous Pustulosis Induced by Hyaluronic Acid Knee Injection: A Case Report.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis is a severe cutaneous adverse reaction characterized by the rapid onset of nonfollicular, sterile pustules on an erythematous base, typically accompanied by fever (≥38 °C), neutrophilia (7.0 × 10⁹/L), and characteristic histopathological features. This case report presents the first documented instance of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis after hyaluronic acid viscosupplementation. A 61-year-old female developed a pruritic, erythematous rash that rapidly evolved into generalized erythroderma with systemic manifestations after receiving intra-

Successful Treatment of Pediatric Generalized Pustular Psoriasis with Secukinumab.

Generalized Pustular Psoriasis (GPP) is a rare, severe, life-threatening form of psoriasis and often resistant to conventional systemic therapy. It can be induced by deficiency of interleukin (IL)-36 receptor antagonist. Treatment of patients with GPP is often difficult, and there is no consensus on the best options available to date. However, multiple biologics approved for use in plaque-type psoriasis have also been used in GPP. Here, we report a 6-year-old boy with GPP who was misdiagnosed with AGEP and was treated with corticosteroids but did not respond well. He showed significant improve

Global Delphi consensus on treatment goals for generalized pustular psoriasis.

BACKGROUND: Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a chronic, systemic, neutrophilic inflammatory disease. A previous Delphi panel established areas of consensus on GPP, although patient perspectives were not included and aspects of treatment goals remained unclear. OBJECTIVES: To identify and achieve consensus on refined, specific treatment goals for GPP treatment via a Delphi panel with patient participation. METHODS: Statements were generated based on a systematic literature review and revised by a Steering Committee. Statements were categorized into overarching principles, and short- an

Management of Chronic Generalized Pustular Psoriasis: A Review and Expert Opinion.

Introduction: Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare, chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by persistent symptoms and sudden flares of painful sterile pustules, sometimes accompanied by systemic inflammation. Patients with GPP experience chronic disease burden even when not experiencing flares. There is an unmet need for guidelines on continuous long-term management of this disease. Areas Covered: This review summarizes existing literature describing the chronic disease burden of GPP, the persistence of symptoms and effects on quality of life (QoL) when patients are not expe
