Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic, recurrent inflammatory disease, yet its accompanying nail abnormalities have long received insufficient attention. The clinical characteristics, underlying mechanisms, and assessment systems for nail dystrophy in AD remain unclear. AD-associated nail dystrophy can manifest in various forms, including Beau's lines, nail pitting, koilongchia, trachyonychia, leukonychia, brachyonychia, melanoychia, onychomadesis, onychoschizia, onycholysis, and paronychia. Current treatments face limitations such as slow onset of action and uncertain efficacy with tradi

BACKGROUND: Dyskeratosis congenita (DKC) is typically characterized by the triad of abnormal cutaneous pigmentation, nail dystrophy, and oral mucosal leukoplakia. Progressive bone marrow failure develops in over 80% of cases and constitutes the leading cause of early mortality. Pathogenic variants in DKC1 have been associated with a high risk of developing aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia, and solid tumors. The DKC1 missense variant, c.5C>T, leading to p.(Ala2Val), has been reported in families affected with dyskeratosis congenita. However, due to lack of functional analysis

Cronkhite-Canada syndrome (CCS) is a rare, nonhereditary gastrointestinal polyposis syndrome. The rarity of CCS has led to a limited understanding of its optimal management and prognosis. We aimed to share our experience with 7 CCS patients, investigating the clinical characteristics, diagnostic approaches, treatment strategies, and prognoses we have established. We conducted a retrospective analysis of adult patients diagnosed with CCS between January 2016 and December 2024. The primary outcome was to evaluate the diagnostic findings and treatment course. Secondary outcomes included the asses

INTRODUCTION: Yellow nail syndrome (YNS) is a rare disorder characterized by the triad of yellow nail discoloration, lymphedema, and respiratory manifestations. Pediatric cases are uncommon and often present incompletely, making diagnosis challenging. Although generally considered acquired, rare familial cases suggest possible genetic susceptibility.
CASE PRESENTATION: An 8-year-old girl presented with diffuse yellow nail dystrophy involving all 20 nails and recurrent unilateral swelling of the left lower extremity. Examination revealed yellow discoloration, dystrophy, and cuticle loss affect

BACKGROUND: Dyskeratosis congenita (DKC) is a rare inherited multisystem disorder primarily affecting the mucocutaneous and hematopoietic systems. Classically, it presents with the ectodermal triad of reticulate skin pigmentation, nail dystrophy, and oral leukoplakia. This retrospective case series aimed to characterize the oral manifestations in patients followed at a tertiary oral medicine clinic.
METHODS: Clinical data of patients with DKC followed at the Hadassah Oral Medicine Clinic for Hemato-Oncologic Patients between 2020 and 2025 were retrospectively reviewed to characterize hematolo

Nail lichen planus is an uncommon inflammatory disorder that can occur as an isolated condition and may lead to permanent nail scarring when diagnosis is delayed. We present the case of a 50-year-old woman with progressive dystrophy affecting 16 fingernails and toenails, associated with pain and impaired ambulation. Clinical examination and onychoscopy raised suspicion of nail lichen planus, while repeated mycological studies were negative. Histopathological examination of a nail matrix biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Treatment with systemic prednisone did not result in clinical improvement. S

A man in his 20s with genetically confirmed Rapp-Hodgkin syndrome experienced a progressive decline in visual acuity in the left eye over 12 months. Corneal assessment revealed bilateral keratoconus: the left eye showed central thinning (Tmin 408 µm) and steepening (Kmax 55.98 D), while the right eye had forme fruste keratoconus (Tmin 465 µm, Kmax 45.6 D). Slit-lamp biomicroscopy demonstrated Vogt's striae, an incomplete Fleischer's ring and prominent corneal nerves. Systemic examination identified hypodontia, nail dystrophy, a fissured tongue and characteristic facial dysmorphisms. Whole-exom

Pseudo-psoriatic nail dystrophy, a form of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) secondary to nail product use, often mimics nail changes associated with psoriasis, leading to diagnostic delays. This review focuses on identifying dystrophic nail changes, particularly those resembling pseudo-psoriatic alterations, caused by cosmetic nail products and offers diagnostic and management strategies. Among the allergens listed as culprits, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, hydroxyethyl acrylate, and hydroxyethyl methacrylate were the most common. This poses a challenge in differentiating between ACD and

Dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is a rare telomere biology disorder characterized by mucocutaneous abnormalities and progressive bone marrow failure. We report a 10-year-old boy with a hemizygous DKC1 c.1058C > T (p.Ala353Val) variant who presented with unusually early mucocutaneous findings, including oral leukoplakia at 2 years of age, followed by reticular skin hyperpigmentation, nail dystrophy, and later isolated, slowly progressive thrombocytopenia. Bone marrow examination revealed hypocellularity with reduced granulocytic and megakaryocytic precursors, supporting an inherited bone marrow fai

Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau (ACH) is a rare, localized variant of pustular psoriasis that primarily affects the distal digits and nail apparatus, often presenting with recurrent pustules, nail dystrophy, and significant functional impairment. Due to its rarity and chronic relapsing course, ACH is notoriously difficult to treat, and standardized treatment guidelines are lacking. We present the case of a 67-year-old male with ACH who failed multiple therapies, including corticosteroids, topical tapinarof, and oral deucravacitinib, before achieving rapid and sustained improvement with bi

Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau (ACH) is a rare and chronic variant of pustular psoriasis characterized by sterile pustules, periungual inflammation, and progressive nail destruction. Due to its rarity and overlapping clinical features with other nail disorders, ACH is frequently underrecognized and remains difficult to treat, with no standardized therapeutic guidelines. Here, we report a case of long-standing, isolated ACH showing marked improvement after treatment with the selective Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) inhibitor upadacitinib. A 54-year-old man presented with a 13-year history of recur

Background Autoimmune immunobullous disorders (AIBDs) represent a heterogeneous group of chronic blistering dermatoses mediated by autoantibodies against desmosomal and hemidesmosomal adhesion molecules. The COVID-19 pandemic has generated significant interest in the interaction between SARS-CoV-2 infection, vaccination-related immune modulation, and the clinical behaviour of autoimmune diseases. Objective This study's primary objective is to compare hospital-based temporal trends in the frequency, subtype distribution, and clinical presentation of AIBDs before and during the COVID-19 era in a

Trachyonychia and related nail dystrophies are often associated with inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and alopecia areata. Management remains difficult, as standard therapies frequently yield limited benefit. Dupilumab, an IL-4Rα antagonist, is effective for Th2-driven conditions, but its role in nail dystrophies has not been systematically assessed. This review evaluates the existing evidence on dupilumab for trachyonychia and related nail disorders. A systematic search of PubMed, Wiley, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, and EBSCO was performed from ince
