Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) is a rare cutaneous condition that initially presents as leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCCV) of the skin and later resolves with fibrosis. In addition to the LCCV, EED may show features reminiscent of other entities. For example, it may mimic lesions of dermatofibroma, granuloma annulare, granuloma faciale, or dermatitis herpetiformis. Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) and granuloma faciale (GF) are chronic, localized forms of cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis that result in patterned (storiform or concentric) fibrosis. EED often occurs in systemically ill patients as bilaterally symmetrical plaques, papules, or nodules, often over the dorsa of joints. GF occurs as one or a few plaques on the face. BACKGROUND: Granuloma faciale is a rare disorder characterized by asymptomatic papules, nodules, and plaques on the face. Although the exact pathogenesis of this disease in unclear, it is considered a variant of leukocytoclastic vasculitis confined to the skin. Several medical and surgical methods have been used to treat it with variable results.

Three cases of cherubism belonging to the same genealogical tree which had been followed up since the age of 7 years to adulthood are presented. These cases prove that, without treatment, the regression of the lesions and bone regeneration are real and not anecdotal. Nevertheless, following spontaneous bone regeneration, radiographically some radiolucent areas of low intensity and devoid of trabeculations, and/or areas of sclerotic bone do persist. In one case, cherubism was associated with peripheral giant cell granulomas localized in areas not affected by cherubism.

Assisted ventilation in children may cause acquired lesions of the trachea and bronchi. Symptoms may appear even during or after assisted ventilation. Tracheobronchoscopy is the best method for diagnosis of tracheobronchial abnormalities. Tracheobronchial granulomas and stenosis, and tracheobronchomalacia are the most common adverse effects of assisted ventilation via either endotracheal tube or tracheostomy. The frequency of tracheobronchial lesions is higher in case of assisted ventilation via tracheostomy, with a high incidence of stomal complications.

The draining sinus is an unpleasant complication of acne conglobata, acne fulminans, acne inversa, rosacea conglobata and rosacea fulminans (pyoderma faciale). BACKGROUND: Chrysiasis is a rare blue-gray skin discoloration that occurs in sun-exposed sites of some patients who receive gold salts. A unique case of localized chrysiasis developed immediately after Q-switched ruby laser (694 nm) irradiation for postinflammatory hyperpigmentation secondary to granuloma faciale in a patient who was receiving long-term gold sodium thiomalate therapy for psoriatic arthritis. Skin biopsy specimens showed striking changes in the ultrastructural characteristics of cutaneous gold deposits following laser treatment.

This report deals with a case of atypical histiocytic granuloma in a male patient of 65 years old. The white ulcerative lesion was located in the upper labial mucosa. No bleeding or pain was observed on palpation. A complete spontaneous healing was observed within two weeks. On histologic examination an excess of atypical cells with multiple mitotic configurations was seen. A case of eosinophilic granuloma facial is presented in which the lesions have been successfully treated by cryotherapy, healing with slight pigmentation. Since this disease appears to be difficult to treat, a great many forms of therapy have been proposed in the literature. These will be discussed with the results presented.

The authors report the use of a vascular island nasolabial flap with facial arterial pedicle and reverse blood flow inspired by the flap described by C. Le Quang in an unpublished indication. This case concerns a 64-year-old patient with a large botryomycoma of the columella. We report on a brown tumor of the mandible in a hemodialysed female patient with severe uncontrolled secondary hyperparathyroidism. Multiple other brown tumors were associated. The hyperparathyroidism was treated with a subtotal parathyroidectomy because only three parathyroids were found.
