No dislocation rate gap between single and two-stage revisions with a cementless Dual Mobility Cup.

INTRODUCTION: A major complication of hip arthroplasty is dislocation. In revision, the rate of dislocation is even higher, especially among patients with hip prosthetic joint infection treated with two-stage surgery. The utility of a dual-mobility cup (DMC) in revision was already demonstrated but with a relatively low level of confidence due to the lack of direct comparison with other surgical techniques. We hypothesized that the dislocation rate for patients undergoing cementless DMC total hip arthroplasty (THA) would be similar between single and two-stage revisions. METHODS: We conducted

Biomechanical Roles of the Popliteomeniscal Fascicles and Meniscofibular and Meniscotibial Ligaments in Stabilizing the Lateral Meniscus Posterior Horn: A Cadaveric Study.

BACKGROUND: The posterolateral corner (PLC) structures restraining the mobility of the lateral meniscus posterior horn (LMPH) have been described in greater anatomic detail in recent years. However, biomechanical evidence regarding their functional role remains limited. HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: The purpose was to investigate the biomechanical roles of the popliteomeniscal fascicles (PMFs), meniscofibular ligament (MFibL), lateral meniscotibial ligament (LMTL), and posterior meniscotibial ligament (PMTL) in stabilizing the LMPH. It was hypothesized that transecting the PMFs would increase mobility

Outcomes of manual kinematic alignment total knee arthroplasty in valgus knee deformity.

INTRODUCTION: The optimal alignment strategy in total knee arthroplasty remains debated, particularly in valgus deformities where lateral soft-tissue laxity and posterolateral tibial deficiency increase risk of instability. Mechanical alignment has traditionally been favored in this population, however interest in kinematic alignment (KA) has grown due to its emphasis on restoring native joint line orientation and ligament balance. Despite this, outcomes in valgus knees remain incompletely characterized. This study evaluates radiographic correction, clinical outcomes, and patient-reported meas

Revision Strategies for Complications and Failure of Trapeziometacarpal Joint Arthroplasty Based on Residual Trapezial Bone Stock.

PURPOSE: The main reasons for revision surgery after primary trapeziometacarpal (TM) joint prosthetic implantation are trapezium loosening and instability. Although secondary trapeziectomy is the gold standard, here we describe alternative surgical procedures that can be integrated in a revision strategy based on residual trapezial bone stock after implant removal. METHODS: This single-center retrospective study analyzed the clinical and radiologic results for 41 patients who underwent surgical TM joint prothesis revision from 2006 to 2021 at our institution. We applied a classification of tr

Breaking Down the Posteromedial Corner: Medial Collateral Ligament Augmentation.

BACKGROUND: The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is often injured after a valgus stress is applied to the knee, which stresses the medial compartment. Pivoting and rotational movements during sports frequently cause MCL injuries. INDICATION: Selection of a surgical treatment option depends on the chronicity of the MCL injury, lower-limb axis alignment, the grade of the MCL injury, and other patient-specific factors. TECHNIQUE DESCRIPTION: A medial hockey stick incision extending from proximal to the medial epicondyle to 7 cm distal to the joint line was made. The gracilis and semitendinosus

Transposition of the local extensor fascia for elbow lateral collateral ligament reconstruction: Results in a group of competitive athletes.

INTRODUCTION: The lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) is a primary elbow stabilizer against posterolateral rotatory instability (PLRI). Direct repair is the treatment of choice in the acute setting, whereas reconstruction is the best option in patients with chronic PLRI. Several autograft/allograft solutions can be used to perform LUCL reconstruction, including a local extensor fascia septum autograft. METHODS: In this retrospective multicenter study, 38 patients (26 males and 12 females) with chronic PLRI of the elbow underwent LUCL reconstruction with a local extensor fascia septum aut

Recommendations for establishing metrological traceability for in vitro diagnostic measurement procedures intended to be used for whole blood samples.

In vitro diagnostic measurement procedures (IVD-MPs) are central to clinical decision-making. Consistent interpretation across different IVD-MPs and laboratories depends on equivalence of measurement results. Equivalence of measurement results is achieved by establishing metrological traceability to higher-order references for IVD-MPs. Commutable secondary certified reference materials (CRMs) play an essential role in the metrological traceability of many IVD-MPs. However, due to their instability and inhomogeneity, whole blood (WB) samples are often not suited as source material for preparati

[Distal Radioulnar Joint Arthroplasty: Historical Milestones and Current Implant Concepts].

Although distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) arthroplasty is supported by more than five decades of clinical experience and modern implants have demonstrated reliable short- and long-term outcomes both in the management of DRUJ arthritis and in the restoration of stability in cases of painful instability following ulnar resection procedures, its clinical adoption remains limited compared with other types of joint replacement. This narrative review summarizes the historical development and biomechanical principles of DRUJ arthroplasty and compares current endoprosthetic concepts - ranging from parti

Condylar Sag After Orthognathic Surgery: Biomechanical Mechanisms, Surgical Factors, and Clinical Prevention.

Condylar sag is a clinically important consideration following orthognathic surgery, with potential consequences for occlusal stability, skeletal relapse, and long-term temporomandibular joint (TMJ) health. Despite advances in digital surgical planning, fixation techniques, and imaging modalities, postoperative alterations in condylar position remain inconsistently defined, variably interpreted, and often managed without a unified conceptual framework. This narrative review synthesises contemporary literature (2000-2025) to address this gap by examining condylar sag from a biomechanical and fu

SynTrackThinking improves multimodal multi-object tracking for autonomous driving through frequency-aware fusion and temporal contrastive learning.

Multimodal multi-object tracking now constitutes a foundational capability of autonomous driving platforms, allowing intelligent vehicles to perceive and continuously track dynamic agents through the joint exploitation of visual, auditory, and linguistic signals. Nevertheless, the problem remains hindered by two enduring challenges. One lies in the limited effectiveness of multimodal fusion-most notably the neglect of frequency-domain cues when representation learning is confined to spatial processing alone. The other concerns the instability of temporal semantic alignment, a weakness that oft

Modified Broström operation with absorbable sutures only: are suture anchors and nonabsorbable materials necessary?

PURPOSE: The modified Broström operation is the gold standard surgical approach for chronic lateral ankle instability. The aim of surgical treatment for chronic lateral ankle instability is to shorten and repair the lax lateral ligaments, once the healing process is complete, the sutures will no longer be necessary. While non-absorbable sutures are commonly used, they may cause complications, such as inflammation and foreign body reactions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of the modified Broström operation using absorbable sutures, which we expected to yield fav
