BACKGROUND: Neck pain poses a significant and growing public health challenge, with rising prevalence among younger populations and negative impacts on both quality of life and socioeconomic costs. Clinical manifestations are diverse, including restricted movement, muscle spasms, headaches, and upper limb numbness. Although drug therapy is widely used, its long-term use is limited by adverse effects. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) exercises offer a promising alternative, but high-quality evidence directly comparing their efficacy and safety to oral medications is currently lacking.

To investigate the independent risk factors of significant intraoperative blood loss (SIBL) in cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) patients who receive unilateral expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty (UEOCL) treatment. UEOCL is a representative method for surgically treating CSM, while SIBL (with an IBL ≥ 500 mL) cannot be completely avoided. The 341 patients who received UEOCL for CSM treatment at our hospital from 2013 to 2019 fell into the SIBL group (n = 37) and the non-SIBL group (n = 304). We retrospectively recorded demographic, surgical and radiographic data for the investigatio

Airway management can be challenging for patients undergoing cervical spinal surgery. This study aimed to evaluate how the duration of the cervical pathology associated with neck pain and numbness affects airway anatomy and airway management, and to correlate radiological measurements. This was a single-center prospective observational study. Eighty-two patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists I to III were selected from those undergoing surgery for cervical pathology. The patients' symptoms and duration of cervical disease were assessed. Skin-epiglottis, skin-hyoid, epiglottis-voca

Neck injuries are a common and clinically significant concern in athletes, with presentations ranging from soft tissue strain to spinal cord injury. The cervical spine's unique anatomy and biomechanics enable high mobility but also increase susceptibility to trauma during contact and high-velocity sports. This review examines acute and chronic injuries, including stingers, dislocations, radiculopathy, and spondylosis, and emphasizes their mechanisms, clinical presentations, and diagnostic workup. Management strategies span a range of conservative and surgical options, with evidence supporting

Degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) involves vertebral translation over a lower vertebra, often linked to degenerative changes. Risk factors include age, gender, body mass index, and sagittal facet orientation. Surgical options like posterolateral and interbody fusion exist, but the benefits of interbody fusion remain debated. This study aims to compare the efficacy of posterolateral fusion (PLF) versus interbody fusion in single-level DS. It evaluates both clinical outcomes, such as pain relief and improvement in radiculopathy symptoms, and radiological outcomes, including fusion success and

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study.
OBJECTIVE: To compare the prognostic value of localized C4 fatty infiltration (C4_FI) versus a composite global fatty infiltration index (PC1) for cervical sagittal parameters and functional recovery following posterior cervical surgery. Paraspinal muscle degeneration impairs cervical lordosis and postoperative outcomes. Although global fatty infiltration (FI) is recognized as a predictor of malalignment, the clinical relevance of level-specific FI remains unclear.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 179 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy

BACKGROUND Spondylolisthesis, characterized by anterior displacement of a vertebra, often leads to pain and impaired sleep quality, negatively affecting overall quality of life. While postoperative outcomes in degenerative spinal conditions such as disc herniation and spinal stenosis have been widely studied, evidence focusing on sleep quality in homogeneous cohorts of patients with low-grade lumbar spondylolisthesis remains scarce. This study evaluated changes in sleep quality, pain, quality of life, and functional capacity before and after surgery in this patient population. MATERIAL AND MET
