BACKGROUND: Computed Tomography (CT) provides geometric accuracy and electron density information essential for radiotherapy planning; however, it offers limited soft-tissue contrast. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) improves tumor visualization but introduces registration uncertainties when acquired separately from the radiotherapy planning CT (pCT). Cross-modality image synthesis enables the generation of synthetic MRI (sMRI) directly from pCT and may combine the strengths of both modalities, reducing reliance on MRI access.
PURPOSE: We propose a two-stage deep-learning framework for genera

OBJECTIVE: Soft tissue prediction is of great importance for the surgical design and patients ' satisfaction in orthognathic surgery. Previous studies either rely on elastic mechanical models, such as finite element which involves time-consuming computations, or using artificial intelligence method which require insatiable large patient data. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a more efficient and lightweight method for facial morphology prediction and validated its accuracy.
METHODS: A total of 85 skeletal class Ⅱ patients who underwent double jaw surgery performed by the same senior surg

Fibroepithelial polyps (FEPs), commonly known as acrochordons or skin tags, are benign cutaneous lesions typically found in intertriginous areas, such as the neck, axilla, and groin. Occurrence within the nail unit is exceptionally rare, presenting a diagnostic challenge as it mimics more common ungual tumors. We report a rare case of a 23-year-old woman who presented with a 4-year history of a painful, slow-growing lesion emerging from the proximal nail fold of the right fifth toe, causing nail plate deformity. Clinical differentials included acquired ungual fibrokeratoma and Koenen tumors. T

BACKGROUND: Crooked nose deformity is challenging when septal deviation coexists with external malalignment. We evaluated an endoscopic-assisted approach using autologous septal cartilage to improve both function and aesthetics.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 186 consecutive patients (January 2023-June 2025) who underwent endoscopic-assisted septorhinoplasty with autologous septal cartilage grafting. Rohrich types were Type I (n = 58), C-type (n = 100), and S-type (n = 28). Outcomes included digital photographic measurements (dorsum/tip deviation angles, nasolabial angle, tip projection

AIM: Finite element analysis (FEA) is widely used in implant prosthodontics to assess biomechanical behavior and support treatment planning in complex edentulous cases. This work aimed to evaluate stress distribution patterns associated with three implant configurations (all-on-four, all-on-six, and quad-zygomatic) in the edentulous maxilla using a single patient-specific finite element model under immediate loading conditions.
SETTINGS AND DESIGN: Two CBCT scans from a single edentulous patient, acquired before and after full-arch bone grafting, were segmented to generate three digital twin

BACKGROUND: Correction of crooked nose deformity remains one of the most challenging aspects of rhinoplasty. C-shaped and reverse C-shaped nasal deviations require asymmetric surgical approaches to achieve optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes. Traditional symmetric spreader graft techniques often fail to address the underlying asymmetric deformity adequately.
OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a novel asymmetric puzzle spreader graft technique combined with asymmetric osteotomy and osteoplasty in correcting C-shaped and reverse C-shaped nasal deviations.

BACKGROUND: The increasing demand for rhinoplasty revisions highlights the need for effective secondary correction. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty (NSR) with dermal fillers has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical interventions for addressing postsurgical nasal imperfections.
OBJECTIVES: The authors of this study aim to describe and analyze the clinical application of dermal fillers for secondary nasal enhancement in a large series of postrhinoplasty patients, focusing on anatomical targeting, injection planes, and rheological filler selection to establish best practic

Nasal fractures are the most common facial fractures, with a higher incidence in males. They typically result from trauma related to sports, accidents, or physical violence, often involving alcohol. Accurate assessment requires knowledge of nasal anatomy, as fractures may involve both bony and cartilaginous structures. Presentation includes swelling, epistaxis, deformity, and nasal obstruction. The trauma's mechanism and patient's age influence the fracture type. Diagnosis is primarily clinical, as imaging has limited diagnostic value and does not alter management. Closed reduction is ideally

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential association between common nasal deformities (ND) and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) according to the diagnostic criteria (DC/TMD).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Enrolled subjects were initially screened using the DC/TMD and then evaluated by an otorhinolaryngologist (ENT specialist) for the presence of ND, relative severity of these, as well as the signs and symptoms. The identified ND were categorized into four major groups: nasal septal deviation (NSD), inferior turbinate hypertrophy (ITH), a combination of both NSD and ITH, and other

Pinched nasal deformity is relatively common among Asian patients undergoing revision rhinoplasty and is frequently associated with nasal mucosal contracture, which makes corrective procedures particularly challenging. This study investigates the efficacy of one-stage scalp composite tissue transplantation as a corrective intervention for pinched nose deformities in Asian patients undergoing revision rhinoplasty. Between June 2020 and June 2023, a total of 12 Asian patients with pinched nose deformities resulting from previous rhinoplasties were included in this study. All participants underwe

Revision rhinoplasty remains one of the most demanding procedures in facial plastic surgery, challenging not only because of the altered anatomy, deficiencies of structural support, and complex 3-dimensional morphology of the nose, but also because of the varying degrees of scarring. Although the open approach dominates contemporary revision rhinoplasty practice, the endonasal technique remains a valuable option in appropriately selected patients. By preserving the skin-soft tissue envelope and the intrinsic ligamentous support of the nose, endonasal revision offers advantages including reduce

A persistently crooked nose refers to a condition in which the deviation of the nasal pyramid from the facial midline remains or reappears after the rhinoplasty surgery. Asymmetries in any compartment of the nose are among the main concerns of patients seeking revision rhinoplasty. Therefore, mastering surgical techniques to address these issues is essential to achieve success in revision cases. In this article, we discuss various surgical techniques, present case examples, and provide supplementary revision rhinoplasty videos performed by the senior author to enhance understanding.

BACKGROUND: Nasal alar retraction poses a considerable clinical challenge. Conventional correction often relies on open rhinoplasty with cartilage grafting, which carries inherent surgical risks. For mild to moderate cases, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers represent a promising and minimally invasive alternative.
OBJECTIVES: We aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of HA injection for correcting nasal alar retraction by integrating objective photographic measurements, patient-reported outcomes, and finite element analysis (FEA).
METHODS: A retrospective, single-center study was conducted on pa

AIM AND BACKGROUND: Septal deformities are highly prevalent in the population and septoplasties are one of the most common procedures performed by otolaryngologists and facial plastic surgeons. Caudal septal deformities represent a challenging component when managing septal deviations given the caudal septum's critical role as a tip supporting mechanism. As a result, they are a frequent cause for revision procedures.
TECHNIQUES: Caudal septal deformities can range from mild to severe and require careful assessment and strategic operative planning. Depending on the deformity, a variety of tech

Olfactory perception plays a fundamental role in nutrition, emotional development, and social behavior, yet olfactory disorders (OD) in children remain largely underrecognized and understudied. This mini review summarizes current evidence and proposes a structured clinical approach for the evaluation and management of pediatric OD. Etiologies are diverse, encompassing congenital syndromes such as Kallmann and CHARGE, post-infectious and post-traumatic forms, inflammatory airway diseases, and structural or iatrogenic causes. Accurate diagnosis begins with a detailed medical history and comprehe
