Voiding dysfunction in pelvic organ prolapse mimicking obstruction: an unusual presentation of sacral chordoma - A case report.

BACKGROUND: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is commonly associated with voiding dysfunction, often presumed to result from bladder outlet obstruction. However, neurological or structural lesions may mimic or coexist with prolapse-related dysfunction. Sacral chordoma is a rare malignant tumor that can compress sacral nerves and present with lower urinary tract symptoms. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a 71-year-old multiparous Thai woman with stage II POP and mild lower urinary tract symptoms, including occasional stress incontinence, rare urgency, and mild voiding difficulty, initially not affecti

Comparison of Urodynamic Outcomes of Surgery Using the Photoselective Vaporization 180 W XPS System and Transurethral Resection of the Prostate: A Propensity Score-Matched Analysis in Real-World Clinical Practice.

OBJECTIVES: No previous studies have directly compared pre- and postoperative pressure flow study (PFS) outcomes between transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and photoselective vaporization of the prostate using the GreenLight XPS laser system (PVP-XPS). After an institutional transition from TURP to PVP-XPS in November 2020, we retrospectively compared PFS outcomes in a single-center real-world setting. METHODS: We included the last 50 consecutive TURP cases and the first 50 PVP-XPS cases performed during the transition period. Baseline characteristics were compared, and propensity

BOOI-Defined Obstruction Stratifies Early Outcomes After ThuLEP in Men With Detrusor Underactivity: A Retrospective Complete-Case Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: The benefit of transurethral outlet surgery in men with benign prostatic enlargement/benign prostatic obstruction (BPE/BPO) and detrusor underactivity (DU) remains uncertain, particularly when bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is not demonstrated by pressure-flow testing. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate early outcomes after transurethral thulium laser enucleation of the prostate (ThuLEP) in men with DU and BPE/BPO-related voiding dysfunction, and to examine whether BOOI-defined obstruction status stratifies early postoperative improvement. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 189 ThuLEP re

Diagnostic clues for low-pressure female bladder outflow obstruction overlooked by conventional urodynamics.

PURPOSE: Female bladder outflow obstruction is typically characterized by high-pressure, low-flow patterns. However, low-pressure, low-flow variants are frequently overlooked by conventional urodynamic studies. This study aims to identify clinical predictors of low-pressure bladder outflow obstruction in women categorized as non-obstructed by standard criteria. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed women with lower urinary tract symptoms who underwent videourodynamics between 2012 and 2020. Conventional obstruction was defined as maximal flow rate of less than 12 milliliters per second combine

Design and synthesis of novel benzothiazole-pyrazole derivatives: cytotoxicity against panc-1 cancer cells and EGFR, antioxidant activity, molecular docking, MD simulations, ADMET, and DFT analysis.

INTRODUCTION: While most doctors believe they have a major role to play in breastfeeding promotion, and consider it worthwhile taking time to assist women to continue to breastfeed, it appears that gender and personal breastfeeding experience affect their attitude and confidence concerning breastfeeding issues. As doctors practicing in rural and regional areas may be expected to provide a greater degree of assistance and support for breastfeeding women, their views on these topics are of particular interest. This article reports the results of qualitative interviews with eight GP registrars fr

Characterization of global and region-specific transcriptomic alterations in the bladder following acute partial bladder outlet obstruction in female mini-swine.

Partial bladder outlet obstruction (pBOO) is a fibroproliferative disorder that results in poorly compliant, high-pressure bladders due to lower urinary tract occlusion. The mechanisms governing pBOO-induced bladder remodeling remain poorly understood. The goals of the present study were to profile global and region-specific transcriptomes of porcine bladders in response to pBOO using RNA sequencing and to identify genes and pathways differentially affected in the bladder dome and trigone by obstructive injury. Nine adult female Yucatan mini-swine were randomized and divided into either nonsur

A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Surgical Reconstruction for Bladder Neck and Vesicourethral Anastomotic Stenosis: The Case for Etiology-specific Definitions and Reporting.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The surgical management of bladder neck stenosis (BNS) and vesicourethral anastomotic stenosis (VUAS) is often reported indiscriminately despite their distinct etiologies, precluding identification of optimal treatment strategies. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizes outcomes by stenosis type and surgical approach to inform clinical decision-making. METHODS: In this prospectively registered review (CRD420261283660), MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus were searched in January 2026 for studies on the reconstructive surgical management of BNS or VUAS, excluding

Association of concomitant congenital anomalies with long-term renal outcomes in children with posterior urethral valves.

BACKGROUND: Posterior urethral valves (PUV) are the most common cause of congenital bladder outlet obstruction in boys and may result in long-term impairment of both bladder and renal function. In addition to the obstructive process itself, concomitant congenital anomalies may further influence renal outcome. This study aimed to evaluate the spectrum of associated congenital anomalies in children with PUV and to examine their relationship with clinically significant chronic kidney disease (CKD) during follow-up. METHODS: This retrospective single-center observational study included 103 boys w

Dynamic Simulation of Male Bladder Outlet Obstruction: Flow Characteristics and Novel Quantitative Indicators.

Bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is diagnosed through clinical urodynamics, an invasive method with many limitations, including side effects or surgical complications. This study introduces evaluation strategies for BOO recognition based on uroflowmetry test. In this study, a catheter-free male lower urinary tract (LUT) model was developed for hydrodynamics simulation. The pressure and velocity distributions in urethras with different obstruction degrees were analyzed under a fixed vesical pressure, and the effect of obstruction on urine flow under transient vesical pressure input was investig
