OBJECTIVE: We report the case of a 54 year old man with an intraabdominal germinal tumor originated from an ectopic testis, and its treatment.
METHODS: The tumor was diagnosed with percutaneous biopsy and treated with three cycles of BEP (bleomycin etoposide, platinum ), showing an important decrease of its size. Treatment was completed with the excision of the remnant mass and regional lymphadenectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: Abdominal masses in patients with a testicle outside the scrotum can be germ cell tumors and should be considered during the diagnosis.

A testis is termed ectopic when it lies outside the normal line of descent. A case of testicular ectopia in which the testicle was located cranial and lateral to the internal ring dorsal to the external oblique muscle is reported in a 2-month-old boy. This highly aberrant ectopic testis was treated successfully by orchiopexy; as far as we know, this is the second such case in the literature.

We report a case in which the combination of an interparietal inguinal hernia and ipsilateral ectopic testicle mimicked a spigelian hernia. The patient was a 22-day-old boy who presented with a reducible mass that extended from the right lumbar region to the iliac fossa region. The right testis was palpable in the right lumbar region. Ectopic adrenal tissue may be present along the path of the testis and discovered during groin surgery. The condition has been mainly reported in the pediatric population and very rarely in adults. Here, we report on the case of an adult male with undescended testis who received orchidectomy, and ectopic adrenal tissue was discovered in the removed specimen. We encountered a patient with a swelling in the left lateral infraumbilical region and a left undescended testis. The appearance of the swelling was suggestive of a spigelian hernia. At operation, the swelling was actually an abdominal ectopic testis with associated inguinal hernia. This unusual finding led us to report this occurrence and present a brief review of the relevant literature.

Perineal ectopia testis (PET) is a rare congenital anomaly with prevalence of 1% of all cases of undescended testes. PET may be associated with a congenital hernia. Persistent Müllerian ducts syndrome is a rare form of internal male pseudohermaphroditism, characterized by the presence of the uterus, fallopian tubes and upper vagina in an otherwise normally virilised male with a 46 XY karyotype. It is the result of a deficiency in anti-Müllerian hormone or abnormality of this hormone receptor. Often, the diagnosis is made incidentally during surgical exploration for cryptorchidism or herniorrhaphy, and exceptionally during cancer of ectopic testis. We discuss a rare case of this syndrome revealed by a bilateral intra-abdominal gonadal tumor.
