BACKGROUND: Undescended testis (UDT) is a congenital anomaly. Early orchidopexy preserves fertility and reduces the risk of malignancy. However, delays in diagnosis and surgeries remain common in Saudi Arabia.
OBJECTIVES: Our study aims to determine the hospital-based proportion of UDT at our facility and factors associated with delayed orchidopexy in patients with a diagnosis or suspicion of UDT. This hospital-based study does not estimate population-level incidence or prevalence.
METHODOLOGY: This study included children (0-14 years) with cryptorchidism (2018-2023). SPSS v25 analyzed data

PURPOSE: Redo orchiopexy after failed primary surgery is technically demanding due to postoperative fibrosis and distorted tissue planes. This study aimed to evaluate the indications, surgical strategies, and outcomes of redo orchiopexy, with specific focus on the safety and efficacy of a scrotal-first dissection technique and the role of 3-month postoperative assessment as a decision-making milestone.
METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 2672 orchiopexies performed at a single institution between January 2015 and March 2025. Patients who required redo orchiopexy were identi

BACKGROUND: Congenital undescended testis (CUDT) is the most common urogenital anomaly in boys and is associated with impaired fertility potential and an increased risk of testicular malignancy later in life. International guidelines recommend orchiopexy between 6 and 18 months of age; however, regional data from Latin America remain scarce.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the timing of orchiopexy in children with CUDT in Latin America.
STUDY DESIGN: Multicenter retrospective observational study including patients younger than 18 years with CUDT who underwent orchiopexy between January 1, 2023, and D

BACKGROUND: Intra-abdominal undescended testes (IAT) are the most challenging form of cryptorchidism, with high risks of impaired fertility and postoperative atrophy. Laparoscopy is the standard approach, but preoperative imaging is unreliable, intraoperative volume assessment is often difficult, and technique selection varies. Comparative outcome data and the prognostic value of real-world diagnostic limitations remain limited.
OBJECTIVE: To identify diagnostic and anatomical predictors of testicular atrophy after laparoscopic management of IAT and compare outcomes among one-stage vessel-pre

PURPOSE: Non-palpable undescended testes require accurate localisation, but the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) remains uncertain. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of MRI-DWI for detecting clinically non-palpable undescended testes.
METHODS: This PROSPERO (CRD420261411862) registered review searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and CENTRAL to June 6, 2026. Eligible diagnostic-accuracy studies assessed MRI-DWI against diagnostic laparoscopy or operative exploration. Two reviewers extracted 2 × 2 data, and assessed QUADAS-2 risk of

BACKGROUND: Fetus-in-fetu (FIF) is a rare congenital anomaly in which a malformed monozygotic twin is incorporated within its host twin. FIF is usually retroperitoneal, whereas association with an intra-abdominal undescended testis is exceptionally uncommon. Because imaging may show a heterogeneous mass containing soft tissue, fat and calcified elements, FIF can be difficult to distinguish preoperatively from mature teratoma, especially when cryptorchidism is also present.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 3-day-old male neonate was admitted because of jaundice and a palpable right abdominal mass. Physica

INTRODUCTION: Adult presentation of an undescended testis is rare and can pose significant surgical challenges due to anatomical distortion, fibrosis, and diagnostic ambiguity. Early identification and appropriate surgical planning are essential to avoid complications and the risk of malignancy.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 32-year-old male presented with intermittent right lower-abdominal discomfort. Physical examination revealed an empty right hemiscrotum. Ultrasound localized an atrophic undescended testis near the superficial inguinal canal, although a small retroperitoneal lesion had initiall

Cryptorchidism, characterized by the failure of one or both testes to descend into the scrotum, is the most prevalent urogenital malformation in male infants and an important risk element of male infertility and testicular cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying cryptorchidism-induced testicular damage, with a focus on the role of USP35. Here we established a unilateral experimental cryptorchidism model of Sprague-Dawley rats by resetting the left testis to the abdominal cavity and suturing the inguinal canal, thus preventing its natural descent

BACKGROUND: The gubernaculum is essential for testicular descent, but its detailed surgical anatomy remains poorly understood. We have previously identified an unrecognized anatomy of the round ligament in female patients with sliding inguinal hernias.
OBJECTIVE: This study investigated whether comparable anatomical features exist in the gubernaculum of male cryptorchidism patients, as compared to those identified in female sliding hernias.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed undescended testes located in the inguinal canal that underwent open inguinal orchidopexy between 2016

Myhre syndrome (MS) is a connective-tissue disorder within the acromelic dysplasia spectrum. It is characterized by congenital craniofacial, skeletal, cutaneous anomalies, respiratory, cardiovascular along with intellectual disability, deafness, and progressive fibrosis. MS is caused by germline variants in the transcriptional co-regulator SMAD4 (mothers against DPP homolog 4). SMAD4 is a key intracellular mediator of signal transduction and participates in several pathways, notably canonical TGFβ and BMP signaling. These pathways play central roles in developmental and homeostatic processes.

Cryptorchidism is one of the congenital reproductive system disorders encountered in cats, and ultrasonography is commonly used for the preoperative localization of undescended testes. However, the standard ultrasonographic appearance of intraabdominal testes, especially small or deeply situated ones, can resemble surrounding lymph nodes and other soft tissue structures, making identification based solely on morphological B-mode features difficult. Since the difficulties in accurately localizing and characterizing the intraabdominal testis can complicate surgical planning, additional imaging m
