[EFFICACY OF PENILE COMPRESSION DEVICE TOMERE™ FOR MALE STRESS URINARY INCONTINENCE].

(Objective) Male stress urinary incontinence (SUI) commonly occurs after prostate surgery or pelvic trauma and can significantly impair quality of life (QOL). TOMERE™ is a non-invasive penile compression device developed as a conservative treatment alternative for such patients. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of TOMERE™ in men with severe SUI. (Materials and methods) We conducted a retrospective review of 18 male patients with severe SUI treated with TOMERE™. Clinical outcomes were assessed by comparing daily pad count, International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Sho

Clinical Role of anogenital distance in Predicting pelvic floor training outcomes for stress urinary incontinence.

AIM: To evaluate the predictive value of anogenital distance (AGD) measurements, including the anus-to-clitoris distance (AGDAC) and genital hiatus (GH), on the success of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) in women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). METHODS: This prospective study included 150 adult women with clinically confirmed stress urinary incontinence who met the inclusion criteria. All patients' demographic data were recorded, and the anogenital distance (AGDAC, AGDAF) and genital hiatus (GH) were measured using a digital caliper. Patients were then classified as responders or

Impact of Prior Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate on Outcomes After Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy.

OBJECTIVES: We investigated whether prior holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) influences perioperative, oncologic, and continence outcomes following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). METHODS: A total of 419 patients who underwent RARP, including 27 with prior HoLEP, were retrospectively analyzed using 1:2 propensity score matching. Urinary continence was assessed longitudinally using pad counts at scheduled intervals, with 12-month continence as the primary endpoint. Secondary endpoints included perioperative outcomes and biochemical recurrence (BCR). RESULTS: No sig

Understanding Anti-Diuretic Hormone Dynamics in Off pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (OPCABG) Patients: A Case Series.

OBJECTIVES: The conundrum of Polyuria witnessed post-cardiac surgery has been attributed to altered antidiuretic hormone (ADH) release secondary to both osmotic and non-osmotic stimulus. This transient DI-like state is more often seen in on-bypass cardiac surgeries but a few off-bypass occurrences have also been reported. A lot of conflicting evidence has accumulated trying to explain this altered water balance but a broader conceptual framework is lacking, which we have attempted to provide, with an objective of designing a future prospective study. DESIGN SETTING PARTICIPANTS INTERVENTIONS:

[TRANSVAGINAL BLADDER NECK CLOSURE FOR PARAPLEGIC ADULTS - REPORT OF TWO CASES].

We report our initial experiences with transvaginal bladder neck closure for two females with a devastated bladder neck. In each, the bladder neck was closed following a circumferential dissection and the suture line covered using an anterior vaginal flap, with urine draining via a suprapubic cystostomy tube. (Case 1) A female in her twenties was presented with urinary incontinence. The patient had been paraplegic since childhood and initially managed with intermittent catheterization. Later, severe incontinence developed, and Foley catheter was placed. At presentation, the urethra and bladder

Catamenial diabetic ketoacidosis in a rural area of Kananga, Democratic Republic of the Congo: a case report.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening acute complication of diabetes mellitus most commonly triggered by infection, metabolic stress, or inadequate insulin therapy. We report an unusual case of a young woman with type 1 diabetes who experienced recurrent episodes of ketoacidosis during the premenstrual period, suggesting a catamenial form of DKA. This case highlights the importance of considering hormonal fluctuations related to the menstrual cycle in diabetes management and in identifying factors of imbalance. The patient presented with abdominal pain, severe fatigue, and polyuria

[MALACOPLAKIA OF THE URINARY BLADDER: A CASE REPORT WITH DIAGNOSTIC DIFFICULTY].

We herein report a rare case of malacoplakia of the urinary bladder that demonstrated significant diagnostic difficulty. The patient was a 65-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer, dermatomyositis, steroid-induced diabetes mellitus, and cutaneous cryptococcosis. She presented with repeated episodes of dysuria and hematuria since the age of 62. Computed tomography (CT) revealed progressive bladder wall thickening, and she was therefore diagnosed with cystitis by her primary care physician and treated with antibiotics. Her symptoms worsened at 63 years of age, and further bladder wall t

Effects of Orexin Receptor Antagonists on Nocturia and Overactive Bladder Symptoms in Patients with Insomnia: A Single-Center Retrospective Study.

PURPOSE: Although orexin receptor antagonists (ORAs) are widely prescribed for insomnia, experimental studies have suggested that these agents may prolong intervals between bladder contractions. This study investigated the hypothesis-generating associations between ORA treatment and improvements in nocturia and overactive bladder symptoms in patients with insomnia. METHODS: Enrolled were 45 patients who visited our hospital between September 2022 and December 2025 with nocturia as their main complaint and experienced two or more nighttime urinations. All had overactive bladder symptoms define

[Clinical presentation and diagnostic procedures in canine hypoadrenocorticism].

ABSTRACT: Hypoadrenocorticism (HA) is a rare endocrinopathy in dogs that may occur in a primary form, characterized by a combined deficiency of glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids or isolated glucocorticoid deficiency, or in a secondary form with an isolated glucocorticoid deficiency. In addition, iatrogenic HA may also occur. The primary form represents the most frequent type of the disease. Clinical signs are variable and often nonspecific, ranging from lethargy, inappetence, vomiting, and weight loss to polyuria/polydipsia or acute, life-threatening adrenal crises associated with hypovol

Primary hyperparathyroidism in a 4-month-old German Shepherd mixed breed dog.

A 4-month-old female-intact German Shepherd mixed breed dog was evaluated for polyuria, polydipsia, oral discomfort, tachypnea, and pyrexia. Blood testing documented total and ionized hypercalcemia with an increased parathyroid hormone concentration. Computed tomography identified bone abnormalities of the mandibule and mild, diffuse pulmonary changes. Ultrasonography of the neck documented one mildly enlarged parathyroid gland that was surgically removed. Histopathology indicated diffuse chief cell hyperplasia. The ionized calcium concentration normalized within 7 days postoperatively.

The link between inflammation and autonomic dysfunction in alpha-synucleinopathies - narrative review.

INTRODUCTION: Alpha-synucleinopathies are a group of disorders characterized by the accumulation of the pathological form of alpha-synuclein. This group comprises Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's disease dementia, multiple system atrophy, dementia with Lewy bodies, pure autonomic failure, and idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder. Despite sharing a similar molecular basis, these disorders differ in their clinical presentation. Characteristic manifestations include signs of autonomic failure such as orthostatic hypotension, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, constipation, gastroparesis

Late Penile Urethral Involvement of Urothelial Carcinoma After Radical Cystectomy: Diagnostic Challenge in Distinguishing Urethral Recurrence From Metastatic Disease.

Penile involvement of urothelial carcinoma is a rare clinical entity typically arising from primary pelvic tumours and is usually associated with advanced disease and poor prognosis. However, distinguishing between true penile metastasis and late urethral recurrence is challenging, particularly in patients with urethral preservation after radical cystectomy (RC). We report the case of a 77-year-old male with a history of high-grade invasive urothelial carcinoma (pT2a N0) with concomitant carcinoma in situ (CIS), treated with RC and uretero-ileal urinary diversion with urethral preservation.
