Long urethral strictures raise serious problems in terms of appropriate treatment. Reconstruction techniques using scrotal skin have a high recurrence rate. In order to avoid complications, a dermoepidermal or preputial Meshgraft was used to reconstruct a new urethra in two stages. In the first stage, the graft was raised and transplanted onto the open urethra. 8 to 12 weeks later, in the second stage, the new urethra is closed. In order to design cementless femoral prostheses for the femoral canal of Japanese patients with secondary osteoarthritis of the hip joint, we analyzed the anatomical features of the hip joint in 85 hips of 55 patients with osteoarthritic hip and 90 hips of 60 subjects with normal hip in three-dimensional CT images. From 1986 to 1991 we treated 63 patients with subtrochanteric fracture of the femur. The etiology in 53 patients with 40 fractures mostly pedestrians, hit by a car; or motor vehicle accidents, in other words high velocity injuries that resulted in a significant number of multiply injured patients of whom 38 were polytraumatized, by our definition a multiply injured person with a life threatening injury of at least one of the following body parts: head, neck, thorax, abdomen, spine, extremities with neurovascular compromise and pelvic girdle.

Forty-seven bipolar hemiarthroplasties were performed from January 1985 to December 1986. Twenty-three patients (24 hips) returned for a history, physical, and repeat radiographs. Based on engineering principles, geometric measurements of femoral size should be related to femoral strength and the risk for hip fracture. We reviewed the results of open reduction through the medial approach of Ludloff, done for congenital dislocation in sixty-six hips (sixty-three children). OBJECTIVE: To draw attention to and detail the features of stress fractures of the pubic rami in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
METHODS: Twenty two cases were collected prospectively over a four year period from patients undergoing active rheumatological surveillance in Leeds. Both old and new fractures were included. Information was obtained from the patients, clinical notes, and radiological investigations.

We studied 108 patients (116 hips) who were followed for a minimum of six years (73 to 89 months) after primary total hip arthroplasty using an uncemented porous-coated anatomic hip. Retroperitoneal perforation of diverticular disease is very uncommon and can be difficult to diagnose because of possible pathways of communication between the retroperitoneal space and the thigh. An iliopsoas abscess from a ruptured diverticulum may drain into the hip joint if the capsule has been violated. Cases of abscesses or gas in the thigh have been reported in which thigh pain was the predominant symptom, overshadowing any abdominal signs. We report a case in which hip sepsis due to a ruptured diverticulum was the presenting feature.

Iliotibial band syndrome is an overuse injury caused by repetitive friction of the iliotibial band across the lateral femoral epicondyle. Once considered an injury indigenous to runners, it is now frequently being seen in cyclists.
