BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), when detected early, can usually be managed effectively by simple methods. A delayed diagnosis often makes it a complex condition to treat. Late presentation of DDH is fairly common in developing countries, and there is scarcity of literature regarding the epidemiology and reason for late presentation. Through this study, we attempted to identify the reasons for late presentation of DDH in children more than 12 months of age.

INTRODUCTION: Enchondroma is a solitary, benign, and intramedullary cartilaginous tumor occurring most commonly in small bones of hands and feet contributing to 3-10% of all bone tumors. Head of femur fractures are relatively rare and tend to be associated with dislocations of the hip and fractures of the acetabulum. Other parts of the femur, namely the neck is also often involved. Only two cases per million are reported on a yearly basis which poses significance due to its extreme rarity. Here, we present a 30-year-old obese male patient with Pipkin's fracture who was treated successfully by us without any major complications.

CASE: We describe 3 cases of septic hip arthritis with a dislocation after failed, cephalomedullary nail (CMN) fixation following fragility intertrochanteric (IT) hip fractures that were treated with antibiotic spacer placement.
CONCLUSION: Septic hip arthritis and compromised hip abductors can contribute to dislocation of the hip after CMN for IT fractures. This case report presents a treatment plan to address this rare complication, not yet reported after CMN for IT fractures in the literature, to control infection and optimize function.
