The complex nature of IOFB cases poses considerable management challenges, contributing to various outcomes. This study aimed to determine clinical characteristics and prognostic factors associated with visual outcomes following IOFB treatments.

Intracorneal foreign bodies that persist for a long time are rare. This report presents an unusual case of a foreign body retained in the cornea for over 25 years. The patient, a 42-year-old woman, had a history of ocular trauma caused by a wooden stick. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy of her right eye revealed a 1.5 mm-long intracorneal foreign body extending through Descemet's membrane into the anterior chamber. PURPOSE: Myxomatous corneal degeneration is a rare, often misdiagnosed lesion miming other corneal pathologies. We report 2 cases of secondary corneal myxomatous degeneration, along with systematic review of literature highlighting all reported cases of corneal myxomas.

Honeybee sting injuries involving the cornea are uncommon but can result in severe visual morbidity because of mechanical injury and venom-induced toxicity. A 29-year-old man presented with severe pain, redness, watering, and profound visual loss in the right eye following accidental entry of a honeybee while driving. Visual acuity was perception of light with accurate projection of rays in all four quadrants. Slit-lamp examination revealed marked corneal edema, Descemet membrane folds, and a deep stromal foreign body in the superotemporal cornea. Intraocular pressure was elevated to 42 mmHg.

PURPOSE: We report a case of a 56-year-old man who sustained open-globe ocular trauma in his left eye during a vehicular accident, resulting in the identification and surgical removal of intraocular tooth fragments.
OBSERVATIONS: The corneal wound was closed during initial surgery. An intraocular foreign body was not detected on mode B echography, complicating the diagnostic process. During a subsequent surgery, a vitrectomy was performed, leading to the discovery and removal of an intraocular tooth fragment. Two weeks postoperatively, the patient's best-corrected visual acuity was 20/800.

The etiological spectrum of microbial keratitis exhibits significant regional variability. However, existing domestic and international resistance monitoring systems do not adequately address the specific needs of clinical practice. We analyzed a cohort of 3,691 patients diagnosed with microbial keratitis in the southern region of Zhejiang Province, China between 2016 and 2023.
