BACKGROUND: Myopericytoma is a rare spindle cell tumor of mesenchymal origin, typically benign, characterized by concentric proliferation of tumor cells around blood vessels within subcutaneous tissue. It primarily occurs in middle-aged adults and is often located in distal extremities, although cases have been reported in proximal extremities and head-neck regions. However, occurrences within the oral cavity are exceedingly rare. To date, literature reviews have identified only two cases in children under 10 years old and reported only five cases of myopericytoma occurring in the lip region.

Commissuroplasty is a procedure that is performed to correct deformities at the corner of the mouth or oral commissure. Herein, we report a case of postoperative microstomia treated with commissuroplasty using split dry lips. In a surgical procedure, the dry lip was divided into orbicularis oris muscle cutaneous flaps and transpositioned into the cleft formed. The deformation of the corners of the mouth improved, and mouth opening improved enough to wear dentures. We believe that this method enables commissuroplasty that combines aesthetics with function.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the clinical effects of surgical treatment to improve the lip morphology for a smile-like appearance (joy and happiness) in East-Asian women.
METHODS: From October 2016 to April 2020, 63 patients who had received surgery to lift the commissure of the mouth and adjust the shape of the upper red lip to form a smile-like shape were analyzed and evaluated.
RESULTS: The lip shape of enrolled patients was improved to a certain extent after surgery without any obvious scar hyperplasia, and the satisfaction rate of people after the surgery was 85.71%.
