[Development of high-performance chromatographic materials and their application in herbalome research since 2020].

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a treasured cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, plays a significant role in treating various diseases. However, the extreme complexity of its chemical components makes the comprehensive elucidation of the material basis and pharmacological mechanisms a major challenge in modern TCM research. To deeply investigate the material basis of TCM and interpret its holistic regulation mechanism involving multiple components and targets, Liang Xinmiao and his colleagues proposed the concept of herbal materiomics, which focuses on two main research directions: the

Multiscale Pore-Fracture Reconstruction and Seepability Enhancement of Coal by Hydraulic Fracturing: A Field-Laboratory Integrated Investigation.

Clarifying the transformation mechanism of hydraulic fracturing on coal-rock pore-fracture structures and the associated seepage response is fundamental to the efficient development of low-permeability coalbed methane reservoirs. However, existing studies are hindered by a disconnect between field observations and laboratory evaluations, and the use of single characterization methods fails to capture the full-scale pore structures. To address these limitations, this study establishes a novel multiscale comparative framework that integrates primary coal, field-fractured coal, and laboratory-sim

Active Blood Cell Capture and Synergistic Coassembly: Self-Gelling Gelatin-Polysaccharide Powders for Rapid Hemostasis.

While effective for irregular wounds, traditional hemostatic powders often lack posthydration cross-linking, yielding fragile barriers susceptible to washout under high-pressure hemorrhage. To address this, a novel self-gelling composite powder (GOQL) was developed by incorporating dopamine-grafted gelatin (GelDA), oxidized sodium alginate (OSA), and lauric acid-grafted quaternized chitosan (QCS-LA). Upon contact with bleeding sites, the porous powder swiftly absorbs interfacial fluids, triggering rapid in situ self-gelation through Schiff-base reactions and physical interactions, followed by

Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid penetration of delafloxacin in a murine model.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) penetration of delafloxacin was evaluated in a murine model. Mice received a single 40 mg/kg intraperitoneal dose. Plasma and CSF samples were collected at five time points over 4 h and analyzed by ultra high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Pharmacokinetic parameters, including CSF penetration ratio (AUC0-4h CSF/AUC0-4h plasma), were determined using a non-compartmental model. The CSF penetration ratio of delafloxacin was 49%. Cmax/MIC ratios met pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic targets for Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp.,

Systematic evaluation of pre-analytical variables on synovial fluid metabolomic profiles using GC-ToF-MS and UHPLC-MS.

Synovial fluid is a clinically valuable biofluid for studying joint diseases through metabolomic analysis. However, given the viscoelastic nature of this biofluid its analysis is challenging. Indeed, the lack of standardised pre-analytical processing protocols for synovial fluid metabolomics potentially introduces significant variability that can compromise data reliability and hinder the application/interpretation of results. This study systematically assesses how common sample handling variables including sample dilution, freeze-thaw cycling, blood staining and viscosity reduction (via hyalu

Extreme barocaloric effect at dissolution.

Refrigeration is indispensable to modern society1, yet the dominant vapour-compression systems rely on environmentally harmful fluorocarbon refrigerants with high global warming potential2-4. Solid-state caloric refrigeration offers a low-carbon alternative5-7, but its practical deployment has been hindered by limited cooling capacity and the inefficient indirect heat transfer that requires secondary fluids. Here we report an extreme barocaloric effect in NH4SCN aqueous solutions enabled by pressure-tuned dissolution and precipitation. This mechanism delivers an exceptionally large cooling cap

Thermophilic biohydrogen production from reservoir residual hydrocarbons using palm oil mill effluent-derived microbial consortia.

Residual crude oil remaining in depleted reservoirs represents a largely untapped carbon source for biological hydrogen generation. Previous studies have relied on indigenous bacteria present in oil reservoirs but reported low hydrogen yields, as not all reservoir microorganisms are hydrogen-producing. Therefore, in this study, external mixed culture bacterial consortia obtained from palm oil mill effluent (POME) were used to degrade crude oil for hydrogen production. Morphological changes in microbial communities were assessed using field emission scanning electron microscopy. Metagenomic pro

Collaborative Multi-Sensor Fusion for Intelligent Flow Regulation and State Monitoring in Digital Plunger Pumps.

To address the technical challenge where traditional high-pressure, large-flow emulsion pump stations cannot adapt to the drastic flow rate changes in hydraulic supports due to the fixed displacement of their quantitative pumps-leading to frequent system unloading, severe impacts, and damage-this study proposes an intelligent flow control method based on the digital flow distribution principle for actively perceiving and matching support demands. Building on this method, a compact, electro-hydraulically separated prototype with stepless flow regulation was developed. The system integrates high

Interfacial and size effects in high-pressure rheology: A review.

High-pressure rheology is the study of fluid behavior under extreme conditions, from macroscale high-pressure mantle fluids to microscale lubrication. Pressure and temperature directly affect intermolecular spacing, modulating both fluid-fluid and fluid-solid interactions, altering rheological properties. Interfacial and size effects at microscopic scales are yet underexplored though macroscopic studies have established the temperature and pressure effects on fluid viscosity. This review adopts an intermolecular and surface-force perspective to summarize contemporary high-pressure rheometer te

Shunt configuration's role in shaping hemodynamics of reverse Potts shunt in pediatric pulmonary arterial hypertension.

OBJECTIVES: Reverse Potts shunt is a promising yet high-risk therapy for pediatric pulmonary arterial hypertension. Postoperative hemodynamics is critically influenced by shunt configuration but is difficult to predict. This study aimed to quantify the effects of shunt size and location on hemodynamics to guide surgical planning. METHODS: Based on a patient-specific model, four postoperative models with two different shunt locations [left pulmonary artery (LPA)-descending aorta (DAO) and pulmonary artery bifurcation-aortic arch] and three conduit sizes (4, 5, and 6 mm) were created. The direc

Depressurization-based reinjection method for low-permeability sandstone geothermal reservoirs.

The development of low-permeability sandstone geothermal reservoirs is constrained by high reinjection pressures associated with conventional direct reinjection. To address the lack of consideration of reservoir pressure field evolution in existing studies, this paper proposes a depressurization-based reinjection method for low-permeability sandstone geothermal reservoirs. The method adopts staged fluid production to form a pressure drawdown cone, thereby enabling low-pressure reinjection. Taking the H block of the Jilin Oilfield as a case study, a three-dimensional heterogeneous geological mo
