Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR)-Based Genome Editing in Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases: Therapeutic Advances, Emerging Editing Platforms, and Translational Challenges.

Inherited cardiovascular diseases (ICVDs) are a broad category of hereditary disorders resulting from pathogenic mutations that alter cardiac anatomy, electrical conduction, and metabolic pathways. The main types include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), cardiac channelopathies, and familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and are associated with heart failure, malignant arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac death, particularly in young people. Current treatments, such as pharmacological therapies, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and heart transplantation, have sign

Effectiveness of Intratympanic Steroid Injection on Hearing Threshold Improvement in Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss: A Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is an otological emergency requiring early intervention to prevent permanent hearing impairment. Although recent studies have reported the effectiveness of intratympanic steroid injection (ITSI), evidence supporting its consistency across different clinical contexts remains limited. To evaluate the effectiveness of ITSI in improving hearing threshold(s) in patients diagnosed with SSNHL, and to examine whether treatment outcomes differ according to baseline hearing loss severity, clinical phenotype, and therapeutic role. Awake versus deep airway device removal in pediatric tonsillectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Tonsillectomy, with or without adenoidectomy, is among the most common pediatric surgeries, associated with a high incidence of perioperative respiratory adverse events. The timing of airway device removal, during deep anesthesia or after awakening, may influence these outcomes. METHODS: PubMed, Embase and CENTRAL were systematically searched for studies comparing awake and deep airway device removal in pediatric otolaryngology surgery. The primary analysis was restricted to Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs). The primary outcome was laryngospasm; secondary outcome

Weighted ensemble learning outperforms statistical, machine-learning, and deep-learning models for varicella forecasting: a 12-model benchmarking study using 11-year surveillance data from Nanjing, China.

BACKGROUND: Varicella imposes a sustained public health burden in China, where decades of voluntary single-dose immunization have been associated with recurrent school outbreaks and an age shift toward adolescents. Accurate forecasting of varicella incidence is crucial for public health preparedness and resource allocation. Systematic head-to-head benchmarks of statistical, machine-learning, deep-learning, and ensemble forecasts for varicella in Chinese metropolitan settings are scarce. METHODS: Monthly varicella case counts for Nanjing, China (January 2015-December 2025) were extracted from

Adalimumab in Generalized Granuloma Annulare: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Generalized granuloma annulare (GGA) is an uncommon inflammatory dermatosis characterized by smooth annular plaques and papules, frequently demonstrating resistance to conventional therapies. Anti-tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitors, including adalimumab, have been used to treat refractory cases. However, current evidence remains weak, as it is based on small, heterogeneous studies with non-standardized outcome measures. OBJECTIVE: To systematically review the published literature regarding the efficacy and safety of adalimumab in the treatment of GGA. METHODS: A syst

Preparation of a novel acellular vascular matrix scaffold and its repair effect on medial meniscus defects in rabbits.

Research on the repair and regeneration of injured menisci has remained a focal point of investigation. This study explored the preparation method of a novel acellular vascular matrix (AVM) scaffold and analyzed and evaluated its physicochemical properties as well as its repair effect on medial meniscus defects in rabbits. Histological staining results of the AVM scaffold prepared by a self-designed triple (physical, chemical, and enzymatic) decellularization protocol were similar to those of normal meniscus. Collagen quantification confirmed no statistically significant difference in collagen

Circulating microRNAs reflect hemorrhagic MRI markers in cerebral amyloid angiopathy.

BACKGROUND: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is a major cause of intracerebral hemorrhage in older individuals. Although cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) and cortical superficial siderosis (cSS) aid MRI diagnosis they offer limited pathophysiological insight. MicroRNAs (miRs) regulate microvascular function and may serve as noninvasive biomarkers for distinguishing CAA subtypes and assessing hemorrhagic risk. This study investigated circulating miR profiles in probable CAA and Dutch-type hereditary CAA and examined their relationship with hemorrhagic MRI markers. METHODS: Small RNA sequencing was perfo
