Hemocoagulation and the platelet-vascular hemostasis mechanism were investigated in 79 patients suffering from thyrotoxicosis of different severity by clinical observations and laboratory studies. Along with hemocoagulation defects, there were revealed thrombocytopenia, reduction of the platelet adhesive-aggregation activity and of the vascular wall resistance. BACKGROUND: The term "obesity paradox", refers to lower mortality rates in obese patients, and is evident in various chronic cardiovascular disorders. There is however, only scarce data regarding the clinical implication of obesity and pulmonary hypertension (PH). Therefore, in the current study, we evaluated the possible prognostic implications of obesity in PH patients.
METHODS: We assessed 105 consecutive PH patients for clinical and hemodynamic parameters, focusing on the possible association between Body Mass Index (BMI) and mortality. Follow-up period was 19 ± 13 months.

The effect of BN 52021, a selective platelet activating factor (PAF) antagonist was studied on dithranol-induced irritant dermatitis. BACKGROUND: Accurate determination of left ventricular filling pressure is essential for differentiation of pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension (PH) from pulmonary venous hypertension (PVH).
