Spiral Vein Graft Reconstruction for an Infected Common Femoral Artery Pseudoaneurysm after Vascular Closure Device and Stent-Graft Failure: A Case Report.

Vascular closure devices (VCDs) allow rapid hemostasis after endovascular procedures but may rarely cause pseudoaneurysms or infections. Infected pseudoaneurysms of the common femoral artery (CFA) following VCD use are uncommon, and stent-graft exclusion is discouraged in infected fields and high-motion sites such as the groin. We report a 68-year-old male with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis who developed an infected CFA pseudoaneurysm after VCD and subsequent stent-graft placement. The lesion was complicated by vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia and arterial wal…

Compare efficacy and safety of autologous blood clot injection with C-clamp vascular closure device in treatment of iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm after femoral artery puncture.

INTRODUCTION: Iatrogenic femoral artery pseudoaneurysm (FAP) is a complication following femoral artery puncture, with an incidence rate of 0.2%-5.5% post-cardiac catheterization procedures. Management typically involves observation or interventional treatments such as ultrasound-guided compression (UGC) or ultrasound-guided thrombin injections. This study compares the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided autologous blood clot injection (UGCI) with C-clamp vascular closure device-assisted UGC in treating FAP. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Conducted at a high-volume training and research center,

A Novel Suture-Based Vascular Closure Device to Achieve Hemostasis after Venous or Arterial Access While Leaving Nothing behind: A Review of the Technological Assessment and Early Clinical Outcomes.

Vascular hemostasis after venous and arterial access in cardiovascular procedures remains a challenge. As sheath size gets larger for structural heart and vascular procedures, no dedicated closure devices exist that can overcome all the challenges of achieving vascular hemostasis, in particular on the venous side. Efficiently and reliably ensuring hemostasis at the access point is crucial for enhancing the safety of a procedure. Historically, hemostasis relied on manually compressing venous access sites. However, the shift towards larger sheaths and the more frequent use of continuous anticoag

Removal of Migrated Vascular Closure Device Plug Material From the Popliteal Artery Using the Bi-Directional Approach "Push Balloon Into Vessel and Close Embolus From Retrograde Site (PINCER)" Technique: A Case Report.

Vascular closure devices (VCDs) are widely used to achieve rapid hemostasis after percutaneous intervention via the common femoral artery (CFA), with well-established efficacy and safety. Although VCD-related artery occlusion is rare, it can be critical. A 72-year-old female underwent endovascular therapy (EVT) for stent occlusion in the left superficial femoral artery through a 7-Fr guiding sheath from the right CFA. After the procedure, an acute right popliteal artery (POP-A) occlusion, associated with the EXOSEAL VCD plug, occurred. The plug material was successfully removed using a bidirec…

Pledget reinforcement and traction compression as adjunctive techniques for suture-based closure of arterial cannulation sites in percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair-initial experience.

Suture-based vascular closure devices are used in percutaneous endovascular procedures. However, failures are not uncommon. We have described our initial experience with two adjunct techniques to reinforce the suture-based vascular closure device (ProGlide; Abbot Vascular, Santa Clara, Calif) after percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair. The threads of the ProGlide device (Abbot Vascular) were passed through a pledget with the help of a needle, which was secured to the puncture site to allow for traction compression. The use of the techniques can be helpful if the suture-based vascular clos…

Ureteral Closure Using Advanced Bipolar Vessel Sealing Devices During Laparoscopic Nephrectomy in Dogs and Cats: A Pilot Series of Clinical Cases.

Recently, laparoscopic nephrectomy has become more popular in veterinary medicine. In the majority of these procedures, vascular sealing devices (VSDs) are used. These allow for the closure of renal vessels with advanced bipolar coagulation. However, until now, closure of the ureter was performed with mechanical clips or suturing. There is a lack of information in the literature about the possibility of VSDs being used for ureter closure. This article presents the possibility of renal vessels and ureter closure in cats and dogs with vascular sealing devices. Laparoscopic nephrectomy in dogs an
