A cutaneous horn is a keratotic, usually conical tumor, consisting of a spire of accumulated, cohesive stratum corneum. A number of primary lesions underlying the horny material are known to cause this condition. We present an unusual case of pyogenic granuloma clinically mimicking a cutaneous horn and suggest that it be included in the initial differential diagnosis as a rare cause of this entity. We also review various known causes of cutaneous horn.

Nail-patella syndrome is a rare hereditary (autosomal dominant) disorder, also called hereditary osteo-onychodysplasia and Fong's syndrome. Its incidence is 4.5 per million population in the United States. During a spontaneous outbreak of Theiler's encephalomyelitis severe combined immunodeficient mice developed high morbidity and high mortality. Histological lesions were localized in the ventral horns of the spinal cord and brain stem. The salient features were the severe vacuolar degeneration of neurones and glial cells and the absence of inflammatory cellular infiltrates. The clinical and pathological features of this outbreak indicate that the SCID mouse would be a much improved model for studying the mechanism of poliovirus infection and of virus-induced demyelinating diseases.

A case of an endometrial carcinoma occurring in both horns of a uterus bicornis unicollis in a 50-year-old women is described. This diagnosis can be easily missed unless both endometrial cavities are curetted simultaneously in cases of an either right or left affected fundus of a divided uterus. The correct diagnosis and a prompt definite treatment in this rare combination are emphasized.
