The effect of glucagon on the digital circulation was studied in 7 subjects using the digital rheoplethysmograph (RPG). Rheoplethysmograms were continuously recorded while glucagon (0.1 to 2.0 mg) was injected into the brachial artery of the same extremity being studied with the RPG. The injection of glucagon was associated with a "tingling" or "burning" sensation in 3 subjects. The initial response, which was maximal 8 to 27 sec after the injection of glucagon, was constriction of the arteries, veins, and A-V shunts. In this report, we explore retinoblastoma diagnostic accuracy and review chemotherapy alternatives for retinoblastoma using intravenous, intra-arterial, periocular, and intravitreal routes. Recent developments in neurointerventional research have seen the emergence of the middle meningeal artery (MMA) as an effective conduit for intra-arterial (IA) therapy for a number of pathologies. Here, we review the anatomical, pathophysiological and experimental basis for utilisation of the MMA for IA treatment of migraine headache. We explore the in-human case literature for the treatment of headaches with IA lidocaine and discuss considerations and challenges for future research.

Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is considered to be an acute stroke of the eye that results in profound visual loss. Spontaneous recovery rates are poor. Most CRAOs are caused by thromboembolism in the central retinal artery. The authors report 93 cases of iatrogenic vascular lesions. Thirty-one were secondary to catheterizations and angiography, 10 resulted from accidental intra-arterial or intravenous injections of irritant chemicals, 15 resulted from various operations mainly vascular surgery. Various enkephalins (ENK) have been reported to alter heart rate, systemic blood pressure, and respiratory function but with variable results. We previously found that pentobarbital anesthesia reversed the increases in heart rate and systemic arterial blood pressure produced by Leu5-ENK in the dog.
