The California Pesticide Illness Surveillance Program collects, investigates, abstracts, and records reports received from physicians. A minority of the reports are received through the county health officers who are notified by physicians under a state requirement for reporting pesticide-caused conditions. Most of the cases are identified by review of workers' compensation records. All the cases identified are investigated by the agricultural commissioners of the counties where exposure occurred. This retrospective study was conducted to assess the value of imaging in patients with refractory puerperal febrile morbidity. Studies have documented the effect of guineaworm concerning days lost to agricultural work and drops in school attendance, but little is known about how the disease disables mothers and impairs their ability to care for their children and families. In two 5 year periods (1975 to 1979 and 1980 to 1984), 96 patients underwent pancreatoduodenal resection, which included 74 partial pancreatic resections and 22 total pancreatectomies. Submandibular gland excision is an operation frequently performed by many different surgical specialists. It is often associated with a variety of postoperative complications, the commonest being neurological deficits related to damage to the marginal mandibular, lingual or hypoglossal nerves. Other patients develop further problems at a later date due to the development of calculi from gravel retained in the duct remnant. This study aims to discuss how these complications can be avoided.

Sixty-two inmates of a children's home were examined by using a symptom check list and Hindi adaptation of Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale-Form LM (1960). A high proportion (69.4%) of the inmates had one or other psychiatric problem. Mild mental retardation (I. Q. 50-70) was most common (40.3%), 11.3% were diagnosed as having unsocialized disturbance of conduct. Pancreatic trauma, regardless of etiology, has been consistently associated with a mortality of 20 percent and enormous morbidity. Twenty-five pancreatic injuries, including four solitary wounds of the pancreas, were analyzed to determine why pancreatic trauma should have such an adverse prognosis. Twenty-six women were admitted to National Women's Hospital with complications following therapeutic abortion at the Auckland Medical Aid Centre, during its first year of operation.
