Plasma cell granulomas (PCGs) are benign, inflammatory masses of unknown etiology composed of polyclonal mature plasma and lymphoid cells. The lung is their most common location, and occurrence within the cranial cavity is extremely rare. We report the case of an 11-year-old girl who presented with seizures and was diagnosed as having a dural-based right frontal tumor that extended toward the sagittal sinus and the falx. A thymoma in the anterior mediastinum of a 49-year-old woman was histologically remarkable for the presence of a prominent plasma cell stromal component surrounding the neoplastic epithelial elements. Among 750 previously untreated patients with multiple myeloma, 27 (4%) presented with plasma cell leukaemia. An exceptional case of intracranial plasma cell granuloma, located in the right frontoparietal convexity in a 16-year-old boy is reported. It was shown that rat blood plasma contains two enzymes that inactivate alkaloids by transforming them into N-oxides. Both enzymes are hemoproteins: one of them consists of three different polypeptides with Mr of 63, 35 and 12 kD, while the other one is a single polypeptide with Mr of 73 kD. This paper reports two cases of orbital plasma cell tumours, one initially presenting as a localized lesion, but later developing dissemination and proving fatal within 7 months; the other presenting initially as a disseminated disease and apparently cured from that particular disease within 1 year, both on equivalent treatments. The importance of investigations for general disease (for therapeutic reasons) is emphasized as well as possibility of renal involvement and the unpredictability of the clinical course.

The effect of plasma exchange (PE) was evaluated in 4 patients with rhabdomyolysis. A single 21 PE produced a transient fall of creatinine phosphokinase and did not prevent renal failure. Theoretically PE would need to be performed very frequently to remove toxins in appropriate amounts. Since renal failure in myoglobinuira has a relative good prognosis, we do not recommend intensive PE as therapy.

Estimation of plasma cortisol by fluorometric technique desorbed by Mallingly's was carried out in 56 cases, including 38 cases of myopia (19 cases of simple myopia and 19 cases of degenerative myopia) and 18 normal individuals.
