Effect of preparation design on fracture resistance of molars restored with occlusal veneers of different CAD-CAM materials: an in vitro study.

BACKGROUND: Occlusal veneer had been evaluated for mechanical properties using lithium disillicate. However, studies evaluating the mechanical properties of occlusal veneer with different preparation designs and ceramic materials are lacking. So, this in vitro study aimed to evaluate the fracture resistance of occlusal veneers with two designs fabricated from two different ceramic materials. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Fourty mandibular third molars were distributed to 2 groups (n = 20) according to preparation design: group (O) anatomical occlusal reduction and group (OA) anatomical occlusal and 1

Detecting TRA-1-60 in Cancer via a Novel Zr-89 Labeled ImmunoPET Imaging Agent.

TRA-1-60 (TRA) is a cell-surface antigen implicated in drug resistance, relapse, and recurrence. Its expression has been reported in breast, prostate, pancreatic, ovarian tumors, and follicular lymphoma, which paved the development of the therapeutic antibody, Bstrongomab (Bsg), and its drug conjugates. Because patient selection is critical to achieve clinical benefit, a noninvasive imaging agent to select TRA+ lesions in patients is needed. Herein, we report the development of the immunopositron emission tomography (immunoPET) radiotracer 89Zr-radiolabeled Bsg and its potential to delineate T

High bonding strength between zirconia and composite resin based on combined surface treatment for dental restorations.

Zirconia is the preferred material for dental restorations; however, dental restorations are usually affected by zirconia fractures due to chipping and delamination of the veneer ceramic. One effective solution for repairing chemically inert zirconia frameworks is to strongly chemically bond them with the composite resin via surface modification. Thus, the bonding strength between the zirconia and composite resin determines the performance of dental restoration. Herein, we investigate the shear bond strength between zirconia ceramic and two ceramic repair systems before and after thermal cycli

In situ formation, structural, mechanical and in vitro analysis of ZrO2/ZnFe2O4 composite with assorted composition ratios.

The investigation underline the in situ formation of ZrO2/ZnFe2O4 composites and the resultant structural, morphological, mechanical and magnetic properties. The characterization results ensured the crystallization of tetragonal ZrO2 (t-ZrO2) and ZnFe2O4 phases at 900 °C. Depending on Zn2+/Fe3+ content, the composite system revealed a gradual increment in the phase yield of ZnFe2O4. The significance of monoclinic ZrO2 (m-ZrO2) is also evident in all the systems at 900 °C; however, the incremental heat treatment to 1300 °C indicated its corresponding loss, thus indicating the reverse m- → t-ZrO

Management of a Malpositioned Implant in the Anterior Maxilla.

The surgical and prosthodontic management of patients with multiple missing teeth in the anterior maxilla can be challenging. The purpose of this clinical report is to illustrate the 2-year outcome after immediate implant placement in unintentional close proximity with the adjacent root. Following uneventful healing, the definitive implant rehabilitation was done with a modified monolithic zirconia framework and porcelain veneers bonded to the framework. The patient's satisfaction with the functional and esthetic outcomes remained high throughout the observation time, with no symptoms or biolo

Advancements in minimally invasive treatments for female stress urinary incontinence: radiofrequency and bulking agents.

Continuous advancements in materials technology have provided the possibility that multiple new urethral bulking agents will be available soon. Experience continues to accrue in clinical trials for urethral bulking with these agents. Parallel use for the indication of pediatric vesicourethral reflux also has provided evidence of biologic activity related to these compounds. All of the agents closest to complete analysis are synthetic and represent a variety of material types and characteristics. As these materials evolve, understanding of the preferential injection technique is being gained. D

Foreign body gingivitis associated with a new crown: EDX analysis and review of the literature.

Gingival inflammation associated with foreign bodies in connective tissue is termed Foreign Body Gingivitis (FBG). It is not commonly recognized by clinicians and has recently been described fully in the literature. It is more common in females, and the incidence by age follows a normal distribution, unlike bacterially-induced gingivitis. Most frequently, a red or red-and-white painful, chronic lesion, it has usually been present for less than one year and does not resolve with optimization of oral hygiene. It may be clinically confused with lichen planus. There is no gingival site predilectio
