Effectiveness of Probiotics in Managing Oral Halitosis: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials.

AIM: Halitosis, characterized by volatile sulfur compound (VSC) production, is a prevalent oral health concern affecting 31.8% of the global population. Conventional treatments such as chlorhexidine-based mouthwashes offer temporary relief, but probiotics have emerged as a promising biological therapy by modulating oral microbiota. We aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy of probiotic monotherapy in reducing halitosis-related VSC levels and organoleptic test (OLT) scores in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive database search (PubMed, Scopus, Cli

Visit to the Dentist for Oral Health Prevention at "Age One": A proposed policy report from the Indian perspective.

Early childhood caries is a major public health issue in India. The primary reason for poor oral health in children is a lack of awareness about the role of primary teeth and the importance of an early dental visit for infants and toddlers. The primary objectives of an early dental visit are to analyze the child's risk level, provide guidance to parents regarding proper oral hygiene measures, review dietary and eating habits, provide information regarding the infectivity of dental caries, review the risks of traumatic injuries and discuss factors which affect the development of occlusion. Thro

Effect of silver diamine fluoride application on the microtensile bond strength of three commonly used restorative materials in primary teeth: An ultrastructural study.

INTRODUCTION: Caries in primary teeth rapidly advances owing to its thin structure, thereby requiring restoration. However, restorations often fail due to various causes such as secondary caries and reduced microtensile bond strength (μTBS), which calls for the use of antimicrobial agents such as silver diamine fluoride (SDF). AIM: This study aims to measure and analyse the effect of SDF application on the μTBS of three regularly used restorative materials to dentin of primary teeth as well as compare the types of bond failure interfaces under SEM. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprised
