Evoked potential measurements of visual acuity were made on four children aged from 5 months to 8 years. They were deprived of normal visual stimulation by various disorders: unilateral aphakia from a congenital cataract, vitreous hemorrhage, polar cataract, and esotropia. The objective of a low-vision clinic developed at the Jewish Home and Hospital for Aged was to improve the visual capabilities of the residents who were not helped by the regular eye clinics. PURPOSE: To report the long-term surgical complications of transscleral sutured intraocular lens implantation in children.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Surgical procedure was performed in 10 children (17 eyes) with ectopia lentis, and in 16 children (21 eyes) with aphakia between July 1995 and December 1998.
